This was the first Iron Maiden video that we were allowed to see in my small Texas hometown in the mid-1980's in its entirety. It caused quite a stir (the "Oil the jaws of the war machine and feed it with our babies" was the hue and cry of the religious community as to why Iron Maiden and the like should be banned.) Fun times...the days of the PMRC.

Anyways, this song is about the limit to what I can do with my fingers. In fact, by the end of this tune, I am pretty tuckered out and my digits feel like lead pipes.

But playing Steve Harris with the fingers is a rare pleasure, so when it can be done, it must be done. I wonder how that bloke has so much endurance...maybe it is because he plays soccer.

Oh, by the way....after I saved the tune and saved the camera file, I discovered the D string was slightly below tune (when I set the bass down to set up the camera, the tuning machine gets turned sometimes...big tuning knobs ya know). I was wondering why it sounded a little better when I bent the string. Barely noticeable, but noticeable nonetheless (shrug).

If it was perfect, I wouldn't be playing in my living room, that is for sure.
