LGN026 - Trevor Loveys feat Jaycei - Strange Paradise E.P.
Following on from Chubby Dubz -- Direct Experience which is already creating a storm our in house legend Trevor Loveys is back with a 4 tracker which is sure to keep attention on loungin'.
Partnering with the king of samples Jaycei, the man who can name any classic track in one, this E.P. delivers something for everyone. Kicking off the E.P. is All About To Change a Chicago house reminiscent of the sound of Derrick Carter yet with a contemporary groove. A main room bumper yet keeping Mr Lovey's deepness throughout. Following is Loot The Flute a deep house anthem in the making with a flowing, hypnotic flute melody, as the name would suggest! Flip over to side B comes Strange Paradise, the title track. What is there that can be said about this one? When played in the office it was described as post apocalyptic house. A dubbed out groove that Julio Bashmore would be proud of and drops to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. This one is gonna be BIG! Keeping the darkness in the house is Franzy Deep, a sub bass infused instrumental. With this one it's haeds down, eyes closed & dance like no one is looking...

LGN025 - Chubby Dubz - Direct Experience (album sampler #1)
Kicking off 2012 with a bang, loungin' is proud to welcome Chubby Dubz aka Oliver $ and Gene Siewing to the family!
After a chart topping year in 2011 where Oliver $'s - Doin' Ya Thang track on Jesse Rose's Play It Down label was No.1 charted track on Beatport 2011 plus was No.1 charted track of all time on Resident Advisor, we were over the moon when Gene & Oliver chose loungin' recordings as the home for the Chubby Dubz album project.
Chubby Dubz background and origins combine all manors of influences, as Oliver is native to Germany and Gene to the US. With this chemistry comes a fusion of minds that produces great house music with enough musical soul to have real longevity whilst still keeping the dance floors moving in the best clubs throughout the world. With releases on labels such as Om Records, Appeal Music and Undertones their unique style of house is enjoying great success throughout the world as all the major heads in house music are revelling in deep house currently. The result of this is that the music of Chubby Dubz is being widely championed by everyone from Ricardo Vilalobos, Baby Ford, DJ Rolando and Doc Martin to name a few.
The Album Sampler #1 is as the name suggests the first release of 4 from the self titled Chubby Dubz album due out on loungin' later this year. All the 12"s will feature full length versions of the album tracks crafted especially for the dancefloor plus remixes by key players from the loungin' fold plus some very special guests! Keep your ears to the ground for more info...
With the resurgence of deep house spreading across the globe this release will be sure to hit the mark combining productions that one could be fooled into thinking came from the likes of Ron Trent, Chez Damier or more recently Nicholas. To complete the package is an Art Bleek remix of the title track; Direct Experience, delivering a late night groover that will be sure to find favour with the headz.

LGN022 - Art Bleek - Supplied Artwork E.P.
Kicking off 2011 with a killer E.P. is our favourite artist Art Bleek featuring a number of remixes from the new Art Supplies album released on loungin this month plus some fresh cuts exclusive to this release.
Starting the E.P. is a floor filling remix of Clap Your Hands by our own Trevor Loveys. The original has been out for a few months in the blogosphere and has been picking up some heavy props. Next up is Hold It (A Little Longer) where Art shows off his true talent of the master of the musical groove with a rolling bass and a choppup vocal lick to keep the party rocking. Flip over to side B and you would be excused if you thought someone had swapped the record out for a disco classic. With vox by Noelle Scaggs and a harmony that Nile Rodgers would be proud of Arthur creates a boogie classic that is very much flavour of the moment. Following on is an exclusive remix of The Hunt Dance featuring the unmistakable voice of Ursula Rucker. The original on Art Supplies has had such amazing reactions that we all thought it would be hard to better it, but again Arthur has done it delivering a groover for the heads. Finally is Right On featuring L.As finest Charlie Sputnik. Art delivers a more Techy grove to this classic which is a sound he is becoming more recognised for which contrasts so will with Charlies trademark smooth vocals. Finally is the Art Bleek original of Clap Your Hands which will be sure to get any party started!

LGNCD003 - Art Bleek - Art Supplies
As an accomplished musician, Arthur Pochon (aka Art Bleek) has evolved and developed his production craft over the last ten years and his latest opus 'Art Supplies' weaves elements of house, funk, soul, jazz, rare groove and more into a rich musical tapestry. With further help from vocalists such as Ursula Rucker, Voice, Nya, Charlie Sputnik and Airelle Besson 'Art Supplies' reveals many depths and textures over thirteen tracks of shimmering, heart-felt grooves.
Arthur started studying piano aged 6, enrolled into the conservatory aged 9 to study saxophone and music theory and graduated from the prestigious institution 12 years later. During his years of study, Arthur played in various musical ensembles, ranging from chamber groups to full orchestras.
In 1996, he left for Boston's Berklee College Of Music on a full scholarship to attend their summer music program. This trip proved to be a life-changing experience and gave direction to Arthur's artistic choices. Starting in 1997, he found employment in major Paris recording studios where he developed his knowledge of the recording and mixing processes. At that time he began equipping his home recording studio with audio gear and this allowed him to produce his own music at home, with projects ranging from atonal, experimental work to electro and nu-jazz sonorities. He also scored music to short films, documentaries for television and contemporary plays.
In 2001, his music drew the attention of several recording labels which released tracks on various compilations under the Art Bleek name. He started actively performing on the Paris club scene as a saxophonist alongside deejays and with various projects and also started spinning an eclectic blend of jazz, nu-jazz, broken beats, bossa-nova, world, soul and rare groove records in hip Parisian bars and restaurants.
Towards the end of 2004, Arthur hooked up with loungin' Recordings and released his first CD album which also included a bonus DVD of Arthur's first short film which he wrote, directed and scored.
'Art Supplies' is his long awaited loungin' follow up. From the dream like 'Pain or Pleasure' featuring Ursula Rucker to the sunshine drenched funk of 'Into Knowledge' that sees other main vocalist Charlie Sputnik team up with Blackniff and DJ Pudge MC and the house-edged sounds of 'Friends' featuring Mandel Turner and boogie-funk mantra of 'Right On' that teams Sputnik up with trumpet player Airelle Besson, Art Bleek weaves his keyboards, sax, flute and programming into 100% studio magic.
Arthur is now working with a new French imprint called Sharivari Records, he will also release another album shortly for Stefan Robbers EevoNext imprint and he is also working on his fourth album, a new project called "Bleek & Sputnik" with Charlie Sputnik that will hit the road as a live act. The future is looking far from Bleek.

LGN021 - Li'll Bo Tweak - The B4U Know It E.P.
Following up on the Bo Tweak project with Art Bleek in 2009, plus other releases, Trevor & Chris are back with a vengeance in 2010 with the B4U Know It E.P.
The E.P. kicks off with Da Funky Beat which is definitely the sound of the moment mashing up some heavy guitar stabs with a disco house groove giving a sound that will get party started across the globe this summer. The B Town Shuffle delivers a dancefloor groover with an electro tinge; lazers, robot vox and all! Heavy basslines & a killer breakdown means this little number should see some action in the clubs. Flip over to side B and at last Dub B Good sees the light of day. This 2-step meets main room bomb has been doing the rounds in Li'll Bo Tweak's DJ sets for some time and the feedback has been immense. There will be a lot of happy people out there who have been after this track for a while! Finally comes B Tec & as the name suggests this B side number harps back to the old Detroit sound that brought Trevor & Chris together in the first place with their love of the deepness. Eyes closed & heads down!

LGN020 - Li'll Bo Tweak vs Art Bleek - Bleek, Tweak, Disco
The first project from the forthcoming Art Bleek collaborations album, Back Again is a disco mashup with a summer that get things moving on this EP. With Art Bleeks signature grove on the bassline, combined with the trademark Lill Bo Tweak groove this one is sure to be a winner! On the B side is Boogies Gonna Get Ya which is reminisant of the earlier Lill Bo Tweak remix of Art Bleeks Between Yesterday & Tomorrow which was the first project of the Trevor Loveys & Chris Belsey production team back in 2006. Dancefloor beats and a smooth 80s harmony delivers room 3 soul with room 1 beats. Finally comes the Art Bleek remix which is definitely one for the broken heads out there delivering the signature sound that loungin was first know for.

LGNCD002 - The Young Lovers
The Young Lovers heralds a new album from one of the UK's most in demand producers, one Joshua 'Hervé' Harvey. Taking us into a more downtempo and chilled space from his peak time dancefloor productions and remixes, 'The Young Lovers' further cements Joshua Harvey's reputation as one of the most accomplished electronic composers around. From deep and immersive sounds to shimmering cascades of warmth and beauty, The Young Lovers could well be the soundtrack to a sun-drenched, romantic holiday.
29 year old producer Joshua 'Hervé' Harvey is a man of many names. You may know him as one half of The Count and Sinden duo and their world beating 'Beeper' EP on Domino Records. Or perhaps you know him from one of his many aliases, like ActionMan, Dead Soul Brothers, VoodooChilli or his supergroup Machines Don't Care. You may also know him as a remixer nonpareil, re-jigging everyone from Bloc Party, LilyAllen and The Chemical Brothers through to Mark Ronson, Calvin Harris and The Prodigy. But it is this freewheeling, all encompassing ethos that has made him one of the most exciting things to happen to dancefloors in some time -- his music is joyous, wide-ranging, multicultural and quite simply damn good fun.
Now we find Joshua in a more reflective mood that takes us into a mature and understated realm. As 'The Young Lovers' he creates a musical palette, whose subtlety and dexterity could colour the whimsical ponderings of Keats or the romantic meanderings of William Wordsworth. This time his instruments cajole a lush musical backdrop full of warmth and light, drawing from a wealth of styles that paint the picture of a swooning lovers eloping to sunnier climes.
From the opening jazz swing inflected 'You Make Me Dizzy' to the heartbreaking, melancholic strings of 'How Lonely Does it Get?' and the dusk blues pace of 'Free' and the broken beat shuffle of 'She's A Phoenix', he manages to capture the dusty, smoke filled ambience of a bygone jazz club and then thrust it into the blinding sunshine of a latino samba band warming up in the tropical heat. Cementing elements of blues, jazz, latin and downtempo grooves into his electronic cauldron, Hervé conjures up a heady mix of cool summer listening vibes and introspective ambience to create an album of sunshine filled romanticism. As 'The Young Lovers' steal themselves away to Paris, Rome or Barcelona this album is the document to their lovelorn tryst.
Currently Hervé is working on The Count & Sinden album for Domino Records, the Hervé album, and has just released his debut mix CD entitled 'Ghetto Bass' whilst his second Machines Don't Care project album, which also features Toddla T, Trevor Loveys, Sinden, Fake Blood, Drop The Lime, Detboi and Affie Yousef is due early 2010. In the meantime, take a romantic break with The Young Lovers.

LGN018 - The Young Lovers - Shake Off The Ghosts E.P.
The Young Lovers project grew from a concept that Josh had been working on to create an album of romantic music fore headphones & holiday listening. This is not your typical chilled Ibiza project, but a piece of work that has grown from multitude of influences & ideas. This is the second E.P. from The Young Lovers album due out in early 2009 following up on the success of the Love You Madly E.P., which blew up early this year.
The E.P. kicks of with Booty Bella, which acts as a good reference point as to the sound that first sold The Young Lovers project to loungin' many moons ago. This summery number has a smooth Balearic feel with all the hallmark attention to detail in the production that we have come to expect from Josh Harvey. Beautiful basslines accompanied by soft guitars, if you close your eyes you could be on Salinas beach in Ibiza! One could say that it follows on well from The Young Lovers feat Trevor Loveys - This Is What Its All About that ended the last E.P.
Leading onto A2 we flow into the title track Shake Off The Ghosts. This Burial inspired number keeps the deepness of The Young Lovers sound but firmly falls in the Dubstep category which is currently causing a stir the world around. The filtered beats accompanied by the twisted vocals layered with sound effects, which seem to come at you from all directions make this both album friendly, but you know well that it will be tearing up dancefloors over the next few months the world around.
Flip the record over & we have C-Dibby. From the onset, the tough kicks & drum edits lay the way for a proper dancefloor stormer. With killer cut-up vocals and a chugging bassline the track then leads to a bumping sax chop-up which will be getting rewinds from shore to shore before the year is out. This has Herve's stamp firmly on this one & will be one for anyone who is feeling the Dubsided & Made To Play sound.
To finish the E.P. is She's A Phoenix. Again, similar to Booty Bella, the reason this one made the 12" was to show everyone out there what to expect from the forthcoming album. It has all the hallmarks of Josh's unique deep and emotive sound that has come to be in The Young Lovers, which has made this project so central to loungin'. The precise sounds and production makes one reminisce back to the New Jazz sound around the millennium, which loungin' was so central to from the onset.

LGN017 - Art Bleek - Urban Watcher E.P.
One afternoon in late 2004, the loungin' A&R were flicking through demo's and as per normal every cd they put in the player was the same old formulas of bland broken beats, mixed with VST plug-in's. then came the last cd, from the cover they were not expecting much but as they put the first track to play everyone in the room realized that this was something very special, eighty minutes and nineteen tracks later, loungin' wrote to Art and arranged a meeting in Paris the following week and then promptly signed the young Parisian for a two album deal. The rest as they say is history.... loungin' is now continuing to build up one of the central artists to the label with this first release from the forthcoming second label on Art's home label.
The EP starts off with Urban Watcher featuring Charlie Sputnik. The track really builds on the vocals of Charlie Sputnik who is well known for the vocals he performed on the Between Yesterday & Tomorrow album. The track has Arthur's trademark musical style of combining carefully programmed beats, beautiful melodies and perfectly arranged vocals. One can see how Arthur's more dancefloor influences are combining with his jazz influences to create a flavour that should get people moving w2hen this one gets dropped.
The second track is Into Knowledge featuring Charlie Sputnik, Blackniff, DjPudgeMC, which will the opening track from the album forthcoming for 2008. This is a track that we have been itching to release since hearing the first sketches 2 years ago. Arthur has developed it further by working with Charlie Sputnik, Blackniff & DjPudgeMC. The track has grown from a simple, but effective idea to a perfectly arranged Jazz Hip Hop groove that I'm sure will be getting enough props and radio play this summer.
Flipping over to side B, the EP moves All Night Prescriptions (Late Night Call) featuring Charlie Sputnik. The track has real Art Bleek trademark elements, deepness, analogue keys, atmospherics, killer vocals from Charlie Sputnik , a real deep vibe number for the heads out there. I would say that this mix is a real grower as you get into it more & more with every play.
The track is by Plat Du Jour (Today's Special) featuring Nya. This final groover for the E.P. really shows off Arthur's commitment to work with some really outstanding vocalists in addition to showing all out there a sneak peek of some of the album material that has come to fruition. Plat Du Jour has all the elements of the style that became synonymous with Art Bleek through Between Yesterday & Tomorrow, but taken to the next level.

LGN016 - Li'll Bo Tweak - The Mixup Fixup E.P.
This is the long awaited first E.P. release from loungin' recordings own 'Trevor Loveys & Chris Belsey aka Li'll Bo Tweak. The boys have already caused a stir with their 80's Latenite Boogie remix of Art Bleek -- Between Yesterday & Tomorrow on LGN012 -- Art Bleek -- The Remixes last summer, plus their work with Herve as The Longin' Kollective with the stormer Riddim Come 4ward. This E.P. should show the diverse styles and influences of Li'll Bo Tweak plus the shape of things to come from the forthcoming album on loungin' later this year.
The E.P. kicks of with Pressin' On, and what a tune to start with!!!!!! From the onset, it's back to the Detroit sounds of the early 90's with more 808 sounds than you can shake a stick at, where the kicks & drum edits lay the way for a proper dancefloor stormer. The tune is a real jacker which captures the sound of the moment & will be one for anyone who is feeling the Dubsided, Speaker Junk & Made To Play sound.
Leading onto A2 we flow into Bring It On Down. This number really takes it's influences from the Art Bleek -- Between Yesterday & Tomorrow remix that Li'll Bo Tweak first put their stamp on last summer. The roots of the track come from both Trev & Chris' love of the early 80's boogie sounds coming from the likes of Prelude, Easy Street, Solar, Island etc. With the squelchy bassline, the phatt rhodes & the unmistakable Trevor Loveys keyboard widgets his is the track we would have loved to put on as A1....
Flip the record over & we have Got dat Bass. Straight away, as the name suggests, you are hit by a wave of sub bass I the form of a true "Miami bass" style rhythm. As the track gets going so does the dancefloor on every play so far. The 80's electro vocals merged with the rave synth stabs, which seem to be all the rage at the moment hit the right point keeping the groove going. This will be one of those tracks that will be sitting in record bags for a while!
Got dat Bass reprise was added as an after thought. This was the original sketch of track, but didn't have the energy to make it as a main tune. Many of the old Detroit sounds we all know and love give it a deep feel reminiscent of a Plant E album number whilst the beat keeps chugging in the background. At 1min 15 it fitted on this side nicely and escaped being lost on a hard drive forever...
Hold Tight!!! ends the E.P. This track really harps back to the sound of early loungin'. The broken beats, analogue synths, and seminal vocals that everyone should recognise sound like back in the day at one of the loungin' collaborations or LFR nights in 2002-2004. When dropped at CDR -- Plastic `people recently, the place blew up! Who says broken beat is over? Hold Tight!!!

LGN015 - the loungin kollective presents riddim come 4ward
Well, what is there to say about this one....It's the last release of the year for loungin' (yes, I know we said that about The Young Lovers E.P., but we really mean it this time!!!) and what a number to end the year on!!
The riddim come 4ward track has it's roots in a very messy night back in the day when Trevor Loveys and Chris Belsey had had one too many, talking about old skool rave and wound up buying some old tracks on ebay. Sure enough the records turned up and brought the memories of partying in our youth as vividly as if they were yesterday.
About a year later on another messy night the Li'll Bo Tweak version was born in a studio session. This version has gone through a number of iterations and has been stripped back to the core, but really it's a dancefloor number which will hopefully appeal to old and young and will capture a little of the spirit of the tracks of an era long gone.
During the writing and the mixing of the Li'll Bo Tweak version, Josh Harvey aka Herve took a keen interest in the track and was keen to do a version himself. I think again, being of the era and a bit of a partygoer too, the track rekindled the fire inside him and he couldn't resist having a bash.
Check it out and see what you think....

LGN014 - The Young Lovers - Love You Madly E.P.
The Young Lovers project grew from a concept that Josh had been working on to create an album of romantic music fore headphones & holiday listening. This is not your typical chilled Ibiza project, but a piece of work that has grown from multitude of influences & ideas. The selection of tracks for the first E.P. has been a hard choice; both for us here at loungin' and for Josh himself as it was important to introduce The Young Lovers in a meaningful manner reflective of the album soon to come, but also to put our a 12" that would get the floor going.
The E.P. kicks of with Love You Madly, and what a tune to start with!!!!!! From the onset, the tough kicks & drum edits lay the way fort a proper dancefloor stormer. With a haunting vocal loop and a chugging bassline the track then leads to a bumping sax chop-up which will be getting rewinds from shore to shore before the year is out. This has Herve's stamp firmly on this one & will be one for anyone who is feeling the Dubsided & Made To Play sound.
Leading onto A2 we flow into You Make Mew Dizzy. This is the first track we ever heard from Josh one night back in late 2006. Within 30 seconds the album deal had been done on the back of a fag packet & Josh was part of the loungin' family. The track itself will be the 1st song on the album & really sets the scene for the shape of things to come. The haunting melodies & precise production which harps back to the 60's jazz club sound make this a record that you are not likely to forget in a long time!
Flip the record over & we have Low Down Groove (DJ Fame remix). With this remix Amos has taken a musical composition and smashed it to pieces with some primetime Dubsided style beats, bats & glitches. As the track progresses more and more elements from the original are included, but with the drop just a few seconds away. This is a sincere reinterpretation of the original that adds the energy needed to get the crowd up.
To finish the E.P. is one of the 2 collaborations with Trevor Loveys to come from this project so far. Again, the reason this one made the 12" was to show everyone out there what to expect from the forthcoming album. It has all the hallmarks of Trevor's unique deep and emotive sound, which has made him so central to loungin'. The sounds and production can only be described as beautiful & it's just the tune you want to have on when you are with the one you love.

LGN013 - Music Love Life - Afromash
loungin' is proud to be putting out this one! Over the years both Phil & Mark have supported the label and have been involved in some of the side projects including playing at loungin' collaborations back in 2003, but this is their first release on the label & hopefully not their last! We've been speaking to Phil & Mark on a number of occasions about E.P.s separately, but the timing was never right, it was only when Phil played us the tracks earlier this & the reaction they have got when playing them to others, that this E.P. was a no-brainer!!! Definitely keep your eyes pealed for some more MusicLoveLife action on loungin' in the future!
The choice of tracks has been really hard for this E.P. and actually lead to Phil & Mark having to re-edit the E.P. as a master was supplied with 4 killer 8 minute numbers, which unfortunately was impossible to fit onto a single 12". In this case what will happen is all 4 tracks will be available for download in their full form, but for the 12' we have released the Tech Mix and edits of the Main Mix & the Alt Mix. There is the possibility that the other full mixes will appear on future E.P.s by MusicLoveLife.
The EP starts off with Aphromash -- Tech Mix, which as it's name suggests, has the heavy kick drum, dark keys and a haunting rhythm. To any lover of the old Detroit sound this will be right up your street. As is often the case with tracks like this, it's the subtle changes, the builds, the drops & edits that makes it a tune that you notice differences on every listen. When listening at home you just want to crank it up & when listening to it on a big system you just want to get down. This is going to be one of those timeless numbers, which will be played by the most diverse range of people.
Flipping over to side B, the EP moves onto Aphromash -- Main Mix the first of the 2 edits. Much of the Tech mix can be heard in this version, but with an additional thundering bass and elements of Phil Asher's signature chop up beats. To crown the track are Zansika's haunting vocals which almost have a ring of the 90's New York sound of Joi Cardwell. This is definitely the mix for the heads, but will I'm sure will be heard on many a dance floor in the not so distant future.
The final mix is Aphromash -- Alt Mix. This is really a dub of the Main Mix, which brings the vocals out to the forefront for maximum effect. Again in this version it's the subtle sounds and effects which differentiates its from the other versions and is a real groover that will get you running back to the turntable for play after play.

LGN012 - Art Bleek - Remixes
One afternoon in late 2004, the loungin' A&R were flicking through demo's and as per normal every cd they put in the player was the same old formulas of bland broken beats, mixed with VST plug-in's. then came the last cd, from the cover they were not expecting much but as they put the first track to play everyone in the room realized that this was something very special, eighty minutes and nineteen tracks later, loungin' wrote to Art and arranged a meeting in Paris the following week and then promptly signed the young Parisian for a two album deal. The rest as they say is history.... This second single is remixes taken from the album 'Between Yesterday and Tomorrow'. The tracks were chosen by the remixers with input from Arthur (Art) along the way.
The EP starts off with Another Island remixed by Slope. The track really builds on the beautiful vocals of Aida Khaan & Ulrich Miljavac with a real summer groove. If you close your eyes you can see yourself on the very island! The beats are delivered with Slope's trademark attention to production & detail. This is not a remix that has been taken from obvious parts of the original, but a but a piece of music you could listen to in future years again and again. The second track is Another Island (Slope Dub). When Slope were asked to work on this project, the spec was to remix their favourite track from the album, but even we were surprised when they submitted 2 mixes to us. It seems that Hans & Daniel liked the original so much they couldn't decide which direction to take the mix, so they did both! The dub shares many of the elements of the remix, but is delivered in a manner reminiscent of the cut and paste sound best known from Akufen.
Flipping over to side B, the EP moves onto Charlie Dark's Between Yesterday & Tomorrow (19 Longtime Mix). This mix is appropriately named as it has grown from a sketch delivered to the label last summer. The mix has real Charlie Dark trademark elements, deepness, analogue keys, atmospherics, vocal snippets, a real Blacktronica vibe number for the heads out there, plus anyone who likes to have music that challenges & is not strictly obvious. I would say that this mix is a real grower as you get into it more & more with every play.
The final mix is by loungin's in house team Li'll Bo Tweak. This is a project with Trevor Loveys of House of 909, SpeakerJunk & Switch fame coming together with Chris Belsey -- loungin' recordings. The mix was done to try to capture the vibe of an early 80's boogie number in the style of Street Sound / Nu Groove, but to add a contemporary twist. The result is a killer 116bmp latenite number which has been getting props form all the heads.

LGNCD001 - Art Bleek - Between Yesterday & Tomorrow
One afternoon in late 2004, the loungin' A&R were flicking through demo's and as per normal every cd they put in the player was the same old formulas of bland broken beats, mixed with VST plug-in's. Then came the last cd, from the cover no one was expecting much but as they put the first track to play everyone in the room realized that this was something very special. Eighty minutes and nineteen tracks later, loungin' wrote to Arthur Pochon and arranged a meeting in Paris the following week and then promptly signed the young Parisian for a two-album deal. The rest as they say is history....
Starting with the already acclaimed first single taken from the album, Wanderers Creek sees Art show his more down-tempo / broken beat atmospheric side, that oozes with musicality and feeling. After laying down the drums, keys, strings and atmosphere, Arthur takes to the horn to create an original piece of modern day Jazz with a French slant. Next up, Another Island is again another standout with the beautiful voice of Aida Khann subtly flowing on top of the acoustic guitar before the Bossa styled groove takes you. Into the title track; Between Yesterday & Tomorrow and Art takes everything slowly deeper with bubbling atmospherics and Rhodes keys taking you into the more upbeat groove and double bass, which leads you to Arthur's unmistakable horn arrangements. Using modern techniques to compliment a more 'modal' style of playing and just when you think the track is done, Art show's you what arrangement can do, bringing a more funk vibe using fretless bass and punchy drums to bring up the pace. moving on into some hip-hop inspired sounds with; Get Your Weight Up featuring the talents of LA rappers DJPudgeMC & Tha Blacknificent. While most producers try to add a stale hip-hop number to their left of centre album, this shows Art is as much at home making hip-hop beats as he is doing broken. Back into Arthur's more true jazz vibe, Phille's Special Delight, is the kind of track made to loungin' too, with once again a superb arrangement and haunting horns running throughout. And after the deepness, it's time to bring the vibe back to laidback hip-hop; Spicy Cinnamon Featuring B.O.B & Synna is underground hip-hop through and though, with that catch line, you'll have it spinning in your head for weeks to come. Five In The Morning, sees Art go into the four / four with his trademark atmospheric start leading to a walking bassline, that works just as well at five in the afternoon, as it does at five in the morning. With Airgasm, Arthur takes the album even deeper using synth action and percussion to create the mood. Into Dangerous Woman and Arthur show's that you don't need to be from West London to make stand out broken beat tracks. This shows off both the talent of vocalist Charlie Sputnik and Arthur's great writing talent, mixed with one of the standout tunes of 2006. And if dance floor broken beats is not your thing, skip to Early Memory for a slice of the beautiful and subdued, that leads into a summer flavoured groove and a mix of Parisian and oriental flavours featuring the talented Benjamin Degrandsart on strings. Nighthawks At Phillie's takes the whole vibe down with one of the most reflective tracks on the album, again showing off Art's skill as one of today's most talented arrangers and composers, as just when you think you know where the songs going he'll twist and turn it. Coming to the closing stages and Art's Mood, is yet another stand out piece of musicianship. While most modern day producers are content with using samples of strings and beat loops, Art has taken the haunting sounds of live classical strings and mixed them to a mellow understated beat that keeps you compelled to the sounds while being driven along with almost K&D styled groove and fretless bassline. Expect to hear this piece of music in a blockbuster film soon. Last in line comes Terrace, one of Arthur's musts for the album. A slice of reflective sounds that completes what must be one of the stand out albums of 2006 and beyond.
Overall Arthur Pochon has proved that Jazz and Classical inspired sounds are as much a part of modern music as they ever have been. Keeping the listen compelled by maintaining a flawless sound and arrangement. With support coming in from the likes of Jazzanova, Bugz in the Attic, Phil Asher and Patrick Forge to name but a few and great support from the worldwide press from the album sampler, this project can only grow further.

LGN011 - Art Bleek - Wanders Creek
One afternoon in late 2004, the loungin' A&R were flicking through demo's and as per normal every cd they put in the player was the same old formulas of bland broken beats, mixed with VST plug-in's. then came the last cd, from the cover they were not expecting much but as they put the first track to play everyone in the room realized that this was something very special, eighty minutes and nineteen tracks later, loungin' wrote to Art and arranged a meeting in Paris the following week and then promptly signed the young Parisian for a two album deal. The rest as they say is history.... This first single 'Wonderers Creek' taken from the album 'Between Yesterday and Tomorrow' gives the listener a real sense of what to expect from Art. The original of Wanders Creek show's Art's musicianship with underlying laid back broken beats to create a track that starts off slow and builds with strings and flute, moving along with sax lines, deep chords and fantastic arrangement. Not just a track for tracks sake but a piece of music you could listen to in future years again and again. The bonus track on this 12" is Broken Roll, which sees Art look closely at what's happening this side of the pond, with his own music sampled up and jacked into place between the intricate arrangement of beats. This is Art having fun and will appeal to real lovers of broken beats. Step to the Umodomu Mix and Dominic Stanton covers all corners with his remix, starting off all hip-hop at 100bpm. Stabs, chords and vocal snippets push the track along, then three minutes in the string builds and boom into primetime 125bpm dancefloor broken beats. Dominic has managed to do a mix which retains the flavour of the original whilst updating it for the club. Into the Madd Slinky Remix and from the off there is no mincing, this is pure dancefloor action. Taking the original music and adding fat beats, a heavy b-line and some conga action to the mix! Overall a first single that will appeal to the left of centre massive and gives a real taste of things to come.
