With a reputation for offering a private-college atmosphere at a public university, Louisiana Tech University is dedicated to challenging its students through the efforts of caring faculty members who are passionate about teaching, advising, and research.

Founded in 1894, Tech offers more than 80 undergraduate majors and a wide variety of graduate degrees from within 31 master's and 10 doctoral programs. Tech has the highest graduation rate and the fastest time to bachelor's degree in the University of Louisiana system.

At this campus, 1,557 freshmen -- of a total 10,950 students -- thrive in a safe and supportive environment. Collaborative research opportunities enhance learning alongside extracurricular and NCAA Division I athletic programs that enrich student life. Tech's campus brings together students from 46 states and 69 other countries.

The pedestrian-friendly campus revolves around the oak-shaded Quad and its gracious gardens, beckoning benches, and splashing Lady of the Mist fountain. Other campus highlights include a brick walkway that bears the names of all 78,000 Tech graduates, the newly rebuilt Hale Hall (where admissions and architecture are housed), the 16-story Wyly Tower of Learning, the cutting-edge Institute for Micromanufacturing, and the striking Thomas Assembly Center.

The 255-acre campus is also home to Tolliver Hall's state-of-the-art cyber café for students, a large T-shaped swimming pool, and the Lambright Sports Center. The Lambright Sports Center houses basketball and racquetball courts, sauna facilities, weight rooms, and an indoor track. The facility includes a nine-hole golf course.

In addition to 10 residence halls -- including one for honors students -- and a new on-campus apartment-style community, campus life is fueled by excellent academic programs, 160 student organizations, and 16 varsity sports. Students are admitted free of charge to all Tech sporting events.

Tech is a state-supported university that is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
