Which film do you think is better, Braveheart or Gladiator? I myself can't choose. It's a difficult question to answer. I really want to see Mel Gibson and Russell Crowe face one another and compare their films with each other. One thing I do not like about Sir Mel is that everytime he directs a film, whether he's also the star or not, it's ending is somehow...you know already what I mean. Take for example Braveheart itself, The Passion of the Christ, and Apocalypto. Unlike in Ridley Scott's Gladiator, the ending is somehow happy and we saw that Maximus was victorious. You're right in saying that even though Braveheart has historical inaccuracies, it's greatness is not diminished. Gibson's mistake is only about the clothing of the people. That's not very important at all because the ancient Scots wore the almost same thing. According to screenwriter Randall Wallace, they got the source from Blind Harry, a poet whose works talk about Sir William Wallace.
