In 2009, 108 teams of boys and girls aged between 8 and 14 years participated in a unique soccer and life skills project that focused on developing peace amongst communities, following the post-election crisis in Kenya that saw more than hundreds killed and thousands displaced. Children were very closely affected and Goals for Peace served to help them learn to trust and accept each other once more through soccer and tree planting. This forms part of an annual campaign by Sadili Oval's Sports for Life Program, which reaches out to vulnerable children and youth through sports.
