The New Orleans City Council unanimously passed a resolution urging all local media to refrain from using Katrina Shorthand, that is, to refrain from saying simply "Katrina flooded New Orleans." Using Katrina Shorthand promotes misunderstanding of the true cause of the devastating flooding to metro New Orleans on August 29, 2005, says Levees.org.

A just-released book describes the most dangerous project built by the US Army Corps of Engineers in regional New Orleans. Catastrophe in the Making describes how the MRGO (Mississippi River Gulf Outlet) put New Orleans and nearby St. Bernard Parish in harm's way by allowing salt water intrusion that killed protective cypress forests and buffering wetlands. The book also explains how similar, equally harmful projects are going on in many places including the California Delta and metro St. Louis. For more information, go to www.levees.org

Levees.org has created a video documentary using footage captured by an Amsterdam-based filmmaker while in The Netherlands this past May....HJ Bosworth Jr and Sandy Rosenthal were part of US Senator Mary Landrieu's Second Congressional Delegation (CoDel) excursion to Holland. Unlike the first CoDel which studied peripheral barriers (floodgates), the goal of the Second CoDel was to see how the Dutch live with - and manage - water in urban settings.

This video continues the saga of Levees.org's search for the truth. Dec 2008, Levees.org discovered some at the Corps of Engineers New Orleans District HQ were hiding their identities and attacking citizen critics. With taxpayer funded computers they were leaving insulting comments on the region's newspaper, the Times Picayune (TP). In June 2009, a former editor came forward with an affidavit that validated our suspicions of a possible coordinated deception campaign. In light of the affidavit - and of intense public interest - Levees.org asked to see all the comments coming from the Corps' computers. The TP's lawyer admitted there is no law preventing that. At this video's posting, the TP has not responded to our request nor the request of its readership to come forward with the public data. http://twitition.com/7vcgq - Sign the petition to The Times-Picayune!
