Watch President Obama's remarks on Armenian concerns during an April 6th joint press conference with Turkey's President Abdullah Gul and, later, his speech at the Turkish Parliament.
Armenian National Committee of America Executive Director Aram Hamparian issued the following statement following President Obamas remarks before the Turkish Parliament.
In his remarks today in Ankara, President Obama missed a valuable opportunity to honor his public pledge to recognize the Armenian Genocide.
The Presidents willingness to raise his commitment to recognizing the Armenian Genocide, even indirectly, in his remarks before the Turkish Parliament represents a step in the right direction, but far short of the clear promise he made as a candidate that he would, as President, fully and unequivocally recognize this crime against humanity. We expect that the President will, during Genocide Prevention Month this April, stand by his word, signaling to the world that Americas commitment to the cause of genocide prevention will never again be held hostage to pressures from a foreign government.

As families prepare to gather for Easter and participate in Genocide commemorative activities in the month of April, Armenian National Committee of America Executive Director Aram Hamparian issues a nationwide CALL TO ACTION - urging anti-genocide activists to call Pres. Obama and their Representatives to end U.S. complicity in Turkey's denial of the Armenian Genocide.
Earlier this week, Pres. Obama missed a key opportunity to honor his pledge to recognize the Armenian Genocide during his visit to Turkey. As Genocide Prevention Month continues, he will have many opportunities to stand by his January 18, 2008 statement: "America deserves a leaderwho speaks truthfully about the Armenian Genocide and responds forcefully to all genocides. I intend to be that President."

ANCA Eastern Region Executive Director Karine Birazian spoke at a Darfur rally in New York, this week, welcoming the ICC arrest warrant for Sudan's Omar al-Bashir.
During the rally, Birazian had an opportunity to speak with Darfur Rehabilitation Project founder Yahya Osman, who gave insight into the importance of the ICC action and commented on Turkey's support for Sudan's genocidal regime.
