Scottish Labour's David Whitton addresses the Scottish Parliament on Lord Gill's Civil Courts Review, making heavy mention of Lord Gill's recommendations on the implementation of McKenzie Friends for Scotland, to assist litigants in Scotland's courts.
McKenzie Friends have existed in England & Wales for 40 years but have been kept out of Scotland's courts by campaigns from the legal profession, who are afraid they will lose income to what is essentially a free service for those who wish (or are forced) to represent themselves in court.
