Kraak & Smaak formed in 2003 through a series of chance meetings, and have been winning over audiences all over Europe with their powerful debut album and energy-charged live shows.

In 2005, they won the Best Newcomer Award in their native country, Holland, and garnered praise from the likes of Radio 1's Annie Nightingale, Pete Tong and IDJ.

Citing Jazz, Hip Hop, Funk, New Wave and Breakbeat, as well as all experimental music as their main inspirations, their debut album "Boogie Angst" is unabashedly awash with funked up breaks and soul jumping grooves. The band however simply likes to call it, "Dance music to listen to."

Since then their dj sets and live shows have taken them to the UK, the US, Australia and all over Europe. Remixes were made for Jamiroquai, Richard Dorfmeister, 4Hero, Bitter:Sweet, Mark Rae and Soul of Man amongst others. In turn, K&S got the same treatment from Sharam Jey and Henrik Schwarz a.o.
About Me:

Rewind a couple of years and we find the three dutch guys plotting world domination from their hometown of Leiden. Since releasing their debut album Boogie Angst they have played over 200 live band gigs, they've been hailed by I-DJ as a "Must see live band" they've supported the stadium-rocking Faithless on their European tour and played some of the most prestigious gigs in the USA including Coachella Festival, SXSW Festival, the Miami Winter Music Conference as well as playing headline sell-out gigs on the West and East Coast on their last tour.

Although Kraak & Smaak originally started out as a studio project for the founder members Oscar De Jong, Mark Kneppers & Wim Plug it quickly became one of the hottest live properties in dance music. The live band has the addition of Ro Krom -- drummer & vocalist, Rose -- vocalist and Marc on the bass guitar. Coupled with the keyboards, FX and percussion played by the band themselves it's a formidable slice of funk on the floor with the epic moments provided by K&S's more leftfield output.

Kraak & Smaak have released two warm up 12" to introduce their new album Funk Ass Rotator / Mad As Hell and That's My Word EP. Their new album will be released on April 21st 2008 preceded by a new single "Squeeze me" featuring Ben Westbeech on April 14th.
