親馬鹿・oyabaka is a Japanese term for parents who love their children (who doesn't?), and who tend to compromise their life style largely for their children. 親・oya means parent(s) and 馬鹿・baka means fool(s). This term could be used negatively for parents who are blinded by their love. But, we can be mindful oyabaka who can balance our love and discipline. It's similar to the English counterpart for those who exercise attached-parenting.
I consider myself a mindful "oyabaka".
