Shocking news-another singing legend dies suddenly 25.06.2009 at 2:26pm local time, his brother confirmed. This comes just a day after the 20th year passing of Japan's own legend, Hibari Misora who died on 24.06.1989 at the age of 52.

The world loses yet another great musician, cause of his death is reported to be heart attack. He was 50. Like true legends, nobody will be able to replace him
he first visited Japan in 1984, and since then, created fans here like everywhere else, with his unforgetable moves and voice.

I was searching around Utube and found this lady and gosh, I dunno how a voice like that could come from her... I was so impressed I decided to combine her version of "Cry me a river" with a recording made by another very talented singer from Japan, Hibari Misora(美空ひばり）. born in 1937 to a poor fishmonger from Yokohama, she entered a similar talent contest to that of Britain's got Talent when she was a child. She was so good that she took the judges by surprise.

Merry Christmas! This song was recorded in 1953. Along with Jingle bells (which i uploaded last year) these two are the only christmas songs hibari recorded.
Hibari seemed to have liked Christmas songs, and I've heard that the very last song she ever sang in her bed at hospital was "White Christmas".

This song is from the 1949 movie Kanashiki Kuchibue. Hibari Recorded this song 4 times during her career. I've combined the 1973 version and the original together.

This original version has been sound-restored to remove scratchy noises you get with old records, or most of it anyway. It's been done by a professor from Tokyo University and this version sounds better than the one Columbia releases on CD!!
