The film's title is a famous phrase from a poem written by Subramanya Bharathy, which literally means a peck on the cheek. Mani Ratnam presents a glimpse of the Island of Sri Lanka at civil war, through the eyes of a child of Sri Lankan Tamil parentage, who desires to meet her biological mother.

Poove Poochudavaa - Rare sentimental song between grand ma and grand child - memorable song - Very touching lyrics
Fazil created a niche for himself by playing on the sentiment factor, first in Malayalam and then in Tamil. This is his debut film and he doesn't disappoint. A touching tale of how a grandmother and granddaughter discover each other, the film also has excellent songs and background score by Ilayaraja.
Nadhiya or Nadiya Moidu (Born in Kozhikode, Kerala, India) is a Malayalam and Tamil film actress who made her debut in a Malayalam movie named Nokketha Doorathu Kannum Nattu, alongside Mohanlal and Padmini. This movie was re-made in Tamil as Poove Poochudava during the 1980s with Padmini and marked her debut in Tamil. She currently acts in supporting roles. She acted with most of the leading artist in Tamil and Malayalam industry. In 1980's, there was a huge audience for her costumes, hair styles and ornaments. After marriage she settled abroad with her husband and two kids, and made a comeback with blockbuster hit 'M.Kumaran s/o Mahalakshmi' This film was acclaimed by the critics for her performance as Jeyam Ravi's mother. In 2008, she signed as the brand ambassador for Arokya Milk. She recently signed for a Tamil movie named Pattalam which released on March 27 2009.
