"Fans of Leo Kottke or Michael Hedges will find themselves right at home with [Roth's] intricate guitar work...beautifully written lyrics."
- San Francisco Art Magazine

"One of the best singer/songwriter/guitarists I've heard in ages...Justin Roth is a flat out talent. Roth rivals a young Willy Porter...His vocal delivery is smooth. His guitar playing is extraordinary."
- The Journal Times, Racine, WI
About Me:

Justin Roth is a nationally touring singer/songwriter/acoustic guitarist who combines an artful blend of pop hooks laid on a bed of brilliantly inventive guitar technique for a unique mix of new acoustic folk. He has released four independent CDs as well as being a core contributor to an instrumental solo guitar album produced for Target Stores, entitled "Lifescapes - Solo Guitar," which has sold over 70,000 copies nationwide. His path to acoustic music was solidified at 17, when he saw innovative guitarist Michael Hedges open for Crosby, Stills & Nash. Seeing that the acoustic guitar was capable of so much more than he had been exposed to before, from that moment on, he knew that it would be the root of his musical world. Since then Justin has toured with Red House recording artist John Gorka and has shared the stage with some of the biggest acts in the acoustic music scene, including Shawn Colvin, Martin Sexton, Lucy Kaplansky, David Wilcox and Richard Shindell. A dynamic live performer, Justin has won fans over with his intricate guitar solos, heartfelt songs and spontaneous delivery, often composing songs during his shows with the audience's help. He has twice been a New Folk Finalist at the Kerrville Folk Festival and has won the Indie Acoustic Project's award for Best Song of 2005 for his song "Shine," the title cut to his most recent release. When not touring the country, performing at clubs, theaters and festivals, Justin lives in Minneapolis, where he is currently at work on a new album.

Well ..there you have it! I just commented on another channel that you sound like David Wilcox! and bingo. Great style sir and great sound. I saw Hedges live a dozen times while he was with us . He was my inspiration to pick the guitar back up. I'm a huge Willie Porter fan too.....Dale...and now a fan of yours as well

Justin I love what you're doing. Your fingerstyle and 2 hand on the fretboard work are some of my favorites in the genre. You don't just bring a technique that is unique but you bring heart and soul into your songs which is what many players miss as they try to do fingerstyle. As the great Michael Hedges said when he got too much into textural things, "melody is the heart" and texture "the soul" without melody is empty. You have both and I love it.

I saw you at sweet pea in Bozeman Montana and my friends and I were laughing histerically at your song Dead Horse Trampoline...I was wondering if you could give me the guitar chords for it. I was wanting to play it at camp! Thanks!
