Perhaps.But I also believe that while science is wonderful it doesn't have all the answers to everything.I'm an atheist who also believes in spirits, ghost and reincarnation as well.I used to think that all that was superstition as well.But when I had three different encounters in my life with this it changed my whole out look in life.I love science but I also believe there are things outside of the realm of scientific explanation.

I have trouble believing in the god idea for many logical reasons.But one of them is the teaching of being the only civilization in the universe.With billions and billions of galaxies and possibly man alternate universes what is the chance that we are alone.Not much.
