This is a preview of an advanced hardware accelerated viewer for the Google Street View panoramas, written in C++/OpenGL.
The current Flash viewer, developed by Google, is aimed at showing a single panorama, which can be linked to others. I wanted to see if I could 'improve' on their viewer.
The viewer is aimed at creating a truly surreal experience focusing on real-time ultra high quality playback, bringing the feel of a first person game to Google Street View. This software is written in C++/OpenGL, so it is considerably faster and produces high quality scenes than the Google Flash viewer.
This is a demonstration tour of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco.
The movie was recorded live (using SnagIt), so the playback speed has not been changed. Please ignore the red flickers; these are caused by a bug in the texture pager.
Please note that this software is not endorsed by Google.
