Kurdistan as a state won't exist de jure because the US wants to maintain good relations with Turkey, and the Kurds want to maintain a good relation with the US. A balance can be achieved though though autonomy in the Iraqi north, which is quickly reaching emerging market status. Some might laugh about Kurdistan becoming an economic force. I bet they laughed about Japan after World War II or China after the collapse of Soviet communism becoming powers. If the Japanese and the Chinese can get along, I'm sure the Turks and Kurds can.
