On May 17, 2009, thousands of pro-lifers converged on South Bend, IN, to protest Notre Dame's selection of radically pro-abortion Barack Obama as not only commencement speaker but honoree.
This video tracks the 2 mile continuous protest route from I80 to the campus's main entrance.

The Toronto Sun reported this month on the case of Roohi Tabassum, a 44-year-old Pakistani woman living in Canada, set to be deported April 28.
Many have rallied and contacted the Canadian government to allow Tabassum to remain in the country, claiming if she is deported she will become the victim of an honor killing.
Her husband, Faisal Javed, a Sunni, has written her, according to the TS:
Everybody is against you. I am also very combative to you... if you are here, I could not leave you alive.... Keep this in mind that now I will finish you myself. In 2001, Tabassum came to Canada illegally and sought refuge but was denied, even upon appeal. She tried to divorce Javed in 2007, but he refused. Tabassum has been employed as a hairdresser and styles the hair of men as well as women, which has outraged her husband, who also believes she is seeing another man.
Tabassum denied this and fears for her life:
In 3 weeks, I will be put to my death.... He believes I have shamed and disgraced his family's name and honour.... By killing me he thinks he will restore his family's honour.... I am living in fear every day and I don't know what to do. And rightfully so. Family friend Habiba Ahmed told the TS: "There's no doubt she will be killed if she returns to Pakistan. Her death will be made very public as a message for everyone to see."
Imam Abdulhai Patel of the Canadian Council of Imams, claims honor killings are rare, "more of a cultural occurrence than a religious practice." But statistics show 10k women die every year from honor killings in Pakistan. Tabassum's own 1st cousin was a victim after refusing to submit to an arranged marriage.
Grassroots action is encouraged on behalf of Roohi Tabassum. Those interested may contact the following with the request "Do not deport Roohi Tabassum":

From BBC News, April 6, 2009, this story (http://is.gd/rLZJ) accompanying the news video:
Hunger is driving North Koreans to escape to China, crossing a river frontier at the mercy of traffickers.
Once in China they are forced to live secret lives, the women often sold into forced marriages or prostitution, because if discovered the Chinese authorities will send them back.
A small number of people try to escape through Laos and Thailand to South Korea - a dangerous and difficult journey.
Geum-Hee was a tour guide in China and hid her North Korean origins by disguising her accent and speaking fluent Mandarin.
But she too was illegal. She escaped from North Korea once before but was caught by the Chinese and sent back.

According to Fox28.com (http://is.gd/rrdN), April 6:
Notre Dame students got together Monday night at the LaFortune Student Center to support the school's commencement invitation to President Obama.
The Black Cultural Arts Council and the NAACP were among the groups signing a petition asking university officials not to rescind the invitation to the president.
Several notable officials, inlcuding Bishop John D'Arcy, have denounced the school's decision to have President Obama speak at graduation due to Obama's views on abortion and embryonic stem cell research.
But Monday night, students said let the man speak.
"The United States had finally come together as a people, as a country," said Notre Dame senior Amber Travis. "And for this to happen, it's really saddening for not only me, but my classmates, for my schoolmates. It's saddening for a lot of us that it's even going on in the first place."
Travis says they hope to collect as many as two thousand signatures. They plan to deliver the petition to Notre Dame president Father John Jenkins by the end of the month.
