Nick Herman, a native New Yorker, has been involved with Afro-Latin music for over 15 years. He began performing as a rock drummer in the 1980s at venues like CBGBs and Pyramid. In the 1990s he began to immerse himself in Cuban and Brazilian music, studying with masters such as Changuito, AfroCuba de Matanzas, Bobby Sanabria, Jorge Alabê, and Roberto Vizcaino.

In addition to Quimbombó, he has worked with artists such as Trey Anastasio, Gary Morgan & Panamericana, Nanni Assis, Roberto Poveda, Jay Collins and Dendê. Over the years Nick has shared the stage with legends such as Candido, Bobby Watson, Hilton Ruiz and Kenny Barrett and paraded as a ritmista (drummer) in Rio de Janeiros Carnaval in 2005 and 2008.

He has worked in the following venues: Lincoln Centers Midsummer Nights Swing, SOBs, the Empire State Building, the Brooklyn Museum, Gonzalez y Gonzalez, The Blue Water Grill, Waldorf-Astoria, Rainbow Room, Top of the Rock, Radio City Music Hall, Cipriani.
