About The J.E. Martin House Project
Our Mission: To honor the legacy of James Everett Martin, his family and the home he built in 1896. By restoring and preserving this historic home to our town's sixth mayor and grandfather of John Nash, Nobel Prize Laureate, we hope to engage people of all ages in exploring and celebrating the rich history of the region and one of Bluefield, West Virginia's founding families. J.E. Martin House - where Bluefield's history lives.
The project's founders, were honored to meet John Forbes Nash, Jr. his sister Martha, wife Alicia, and son John David Stier -when they visited the Martin house in the summer of 2002! And acted more than a little silly during a chance encounter with Russell Crowe, the Academy Award winning actor who portrayed Nash in the film A Beautiful Mind.
Stay tuned - more videos from the project coming soon!
