Have You ever wondered what You were getting yourself into? Relient K with Getting Into You.
Alright there have been many comments on this video as to if this song is about God or not. So lets take a closer look.
First it is true that some of Relient K's songs are about God, and this is definitely one of there biggest songs about God. Like I figured it would be pretty simple to figure out since I did put the lyrics up and you can read them and listen to them.
Lets look at some lyrics shall we? When I made up my mind and my heart along with that to live not for myself but yet for GOD, somebody said... right there song is about God. Because when you live for him you give your life to him and have a personal relationship with him, he becomes our Father, our Lord and our Savior.
Now when I finally ironed out, all of my priorities and asked God to remove the doubt that makes me so unsure of these things I ask myself, I ask myself, do you know what you are getting yourself into? And if you're getting into God and living all out for him your going to be asking these things cause your no longer living for yourself but for him.
Next they go on to say, I'm getting into you because you got to me in a way words cant describe. That means that they are getting into a personal relationship with God because he has reached out and extended to them an invitation to be brought into his family and words cant describe it.
Furthermore we switch to God's perspective and he says, I'm getting into you because I've got to be you're essential to survive, I'm going to love you with my life. If we place God before ourselves he has to be our essential to survive, and he showed his love for us by giving his only begotten son to die on the cross for our sins. You can read all about it in John 3:16
Just for fun here is John 3:16 for people who don't want to go look it up. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, so that everyone who BELIEVES in him will not perish but have eternal life. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it."
Now as is said earlier we look at God as our father and he looks at us like his children as they show by saying, when he looked at me and said, I kind of view you as a son, and for a second our eyes met and I met that with a question, do you know what you are getting yourself into? So do you know what you're getting yourself into when you get into God?
Moreover they say, I've been a liar and I'll never amount to, the kind of person you deserve to worship you, you say you will not dwell on what I did but rather what I do, you say I love you and that's what you are getting yourself into. Now that's powerful stuff. See God doesn't need our worship cause he's God, but he is so gracious that he lets us worship him even though we don't deserve too. For God doesn't dwell on all the stuff we did wrong, cause Jesus took all our sins away for us on the cross. Looking back at that question I ask just prior, what are you getting yourself into? You're getting into perfect love, into God's mercy and grace. It's an amazing thing and if you're not into his love you should sit down and take a moment and honestly think about it. Perfect love. Now I'm not saying life will be perfect and you wont have any heartache, you will, but you will have someone who loves you always and will be there to help you through it. Just think about it...
So is this song about God? Yes. Is it a love song as well? Yes. It is a song about perfect love, the ultimate love. God's Love. Anyways Ill leave you all with that to ponder and chew on. I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes here but I'm sure a few got stepped on in the process. Anyways God Bless and hopefully you all get something out of this.
