As long as its prey is roughly the right size and touches two of its hairs within twenty seconds, the plant will dine on any insect or spider that comes its way. Glands in the lobes then secrete enzymes that break the dinner down into a digestible soup. Ten days later, the trap pops open to reveal nothing but a dried out husk.

Fresno State 53, at Illinois 52: Offensive lineman Devan Cunningham caught a deflected pass with two seconds left and stumbled into the end zone for a two-point conversion, giving the Bulldogs (8-4) a wild victory over the Fighting Illini (3-9). Ryan Colburn capped a 67-yard drive by connecting with Jamel Hamler for the last touchdown. Hamler caught the ball at the five and stretched across the goal line just as his knee hit the turf. After the conversion, officials reviewed the play and ruled that an Illinois defense back had tipped the ball -- not a Fresno State player -- allowing anybody to catch it.
