U2 nach Konzert als beste Live-Band. Die irische Rockband U2 hat mit einem stimmungsvollen Konzert am Brandenburger Tor rund 10 000 Fans begeistert. «Berlin, du bist wunderbar!», rief Sänger Bono am Donnerstagabend auf Deutsch der jubelnden Menge zu. Dann stimmte die Band - passend zum symbolträchtigen Ort der deutschen Einheit - den Hit «One» an. Den Song hatten U2 im Jahr 1990 in den Berliner Hansa Studios aufgenommen, die damals direkt an der Mauer standen. Kurz vor Beginn der Show war die umstrittene Absperrung zum Konzertbereich geöffnet worden, so dass auch Schaulustige ohne Karte die Bühne sehen konnten. Das Gratiskonzert war Teil der MTV Europe Music Awards, die am späten Abend in der O2 Arena verliehen werden sollten. Am Brandenburger Tor hatten vor 20 Jahren Deutsche aus Ost und West den Fall der Berliner Mauer gefeiert. Beim U2-Konzert tauchte eine Lichtshow das Tor in Grün und Dunkelrot. Die Quadriga schimmerte golden, die amerikanische und die sowjetische Flagge verschmolzen. Bei «Sunday Bloody Sunday» kam Rapper Jay-Z auf die Bühne und begleitete U2. Well, in the 2009 MWN semifinal match between BYU and New Mexico, there was no lipstick, no perfume and no fingernail polish. There was, however, good old fashioned chick fighting. Check out the BYU's Kassidy Shumway (21) getting her bell rung (or neck snapped) by New Mexico's Elizabeth Lambert (15). I loved a good chick fight as much as the next guy, but c'mon. That's the equivalent of a guy hitting below the belt. That's bush league, sweetie. Yep, bush league.
