This installation in SparkFun's classroom uses a modded PS3 eye which can only see InfraRed, an ultra-short throw projector mounted above the ceiling, Community Core Vision for tracking and calibration and Processing running MSAFluid to demonstrate the tracking. The sumobot was created by Tim (www.badfrank.net) and is controlled with a hacked Wii Chuck, arduino and a couple of xbees. The bot also has an IR LED on top for tracking. Between 7 and 9 o clock in the morning, december 9, 2009 this strange thing happened in the skies above Norway. Thousands of people saw this, took photos and filmed it and posted to their blogs. It appeared in the east, moving westwards. It was described as a spiral moving light, completely silent. After about 1 minute or so, the light disappeared and seemed to dissolve, leaving a grey mist/halo expanding, then dissolving. The green/blue lighttrail remained for hours. People describing it as frightening/exciting and beautiful. Norwegian defence say they dont know what it is. Russians say they have not launched any rockets, neither have the Norwegian Andøya rocketsite. It is not Aurora borealis, and not a meteor since it remained in the skies for more than 2 minutes. Russian, Swedish and Norwegian rocket sites report they have not fired any rockets. Nobody knows what this is. Norwegian authorities are investigating strange lights seen in the arctic sky. The spiraling white light was seen for several minutes on Wednesday morning. Locals say the light appeared to be bigger than the moon. Thousands of Norwegians bombarded the Meteorological Institute to ask what the light could possibly be. Some feared it could have been a meteor, others a black hole and there were those who thought it could have been aliens. But defence experts in Olso suggest its more likely to have been a failed Russian missile launch from the area of the White Sea. They think a rocket probably got out of control and self destructed. There's been no official comment from the Russian Military.
