Anti-whaling activists accuse Japan fleet of attack Anti-whaling activists have accused a Japanese vessel of ramming their high-tech speed boat during a confrontation in the Southern Ocean. The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society says its vessel was sliced in half, but all six crew were rescued. Earlier the campaigners - who are trying to stop Japan's whaling fleet - said they threw chemicals onto the whaling boat to prevent it being used. Japan's fisheries agency said the group had obstructed the whalers' operations. The agency said it was the fourth time this season that the anti-whaling activists had interfered with the whaling fleet's operations, Kyodo news agency reported In recent years the two sides have confronted each other regularly in waters around the Antarctic. "This seriously escalates the whole situation," Sea Shepherd spokesman Paul Watson said, according to The Age newspaper in Australia. The activists said their boat, the Ady Gil - a high-tech speed boat that resembles a stealth bomber - had its bow sheared off in the clash near Commonwealth Bay. The Sea Shepherd group sends boats to Antarctic waters each year to try to stop the Japanese whaling fleet hunting whales under the auspices of a scientific research programme. In or around September 2008 he served (on his own admission) about 150 dmca take down notices. On the previous occasion he was forced to make an apology to thundf00t. In that apology he made certain statements which are shown in this video. Namely; 1. that the DMCA is a US copyright statute; 2. that service of a dmca notice was done under penalty of perjury; 3. issues, such as discrideiting him (or putting his family in danger) were NOT issues of copyright; and 4. misuse of the dmca could lead to his suspension from youtube. Venomfangx is fully aware (or he should be) that the issuing of dmca notices for reasons other than for legitimate protection of copyright is against youtube's Terms of Use; is potentially an act of perjury and certainly leaves himself open to civil liability. Despite that, he has made it clear that he has issued the most recent dmca notices in order to "protect him and his family". Not only is this no defence to the misuse of the dmca, it is in my view a total fallacy. If indeed he was worried about his family he would never have returned to youtube.
