When I set the laptop down I heard a pop and saw sparks shooting out the back. Grabbing the computer I ripped out the battery (which was smoking and shooting out sparks) and threw the battery out the door. After It smoked for a while it finally caught on fire and then exploded, nearly hitting my wife who was standing 20 ft away with a flaming fireball.
DONT BUY BATTERIES FROM level8technology.com! This is my second battery from them...they replaced the first one which didn't work with an exploding battery! We are just thankfull we were home, our entire house would have gone up in smoke. Thankfully the laptop was spared with only a small bit of plastic melted and a nasty odor. Lessons learned: 1. Genuine HP batteries from now on! 2. Make sure fire extinguishers are charged every year!
