Vivo Per Lei - Hayley Westenra & Andrea Bocelli recorded from Dutch TV by Gerrit Kroeze. It's the same performance but slightly different from (and perhaps better quality than) the NBC broadcast that's been around for a few years. The show was Kurt Browning's "Gotta Skate V" Ice Skating Gala at the Air Canada Centre Toronto Canada on 18 October 2005. English & Italian lyrics. The superb Ice Skating is by Jamie Salé and David Pelletier.

This version of the performance was recorded by Gerrit in 2006 from TROS TV in the Netherlands and has been edited by Dave Ludlow. We are delighted to finally make this version available.

"The program that followed I thought was one of the prettiest and most romantic of the evening. Hayley Westenra came out with Andrea Bocelli, and the two performed "Vivo Per Lei" as Jamie Sale & David Pelletier skated. Jamie & David started out the program with their arms around each other, facing the stage and just watching the singers, before they slowly broke apart, joined hands, and started moving towards the stage.

The program just built from there, with both the lyrics and the choreography emphasizing love and romance and tenderness between the couple on the ice. The program also featured some of Jamie & David's trademark interesting lifts and moves, such as her arching into a sort of handstand on his back, or holding an extended spiral position with her foot clamped between his legs, or her standing on his feet facing him in a spread-eagle position, or several other overhead lifts. One thing that has always struck me about Jamie & David's lifts vs those of several other professional pairs, is how long they hold them. Similarly, the two did side by side spirals that just held and held and held as the edge deepened and the spiral tightened.

Just a lovely program, and Hayley Westenra and Andrea Bocelli's duet was gorgeous."

Hayley (ヘイリー ) took part in a Japanese TV programme celebrating the Golden Wedding Anniversary of Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko, which takes place on April 10 2009. When she was a student, the Empress wrote a poem which was later set to music by Masami Yamamoto in 1966, to mark the celebration of the birth of the Empress's second child, Prince Akishinomiya. This song is Lullaby of Nemunoki ( ねむの木の子守歌 - Nemunoki no Komoriuta) and Hayley sings it starting at 37 seconds into the video.

Hayley has released the same song in Japan, is currently on tour there and has recently visited Seibi Children's Home in Tokyo, which is where the video starts... with Hayley singing a short clip from Amazing Grace. The Empress has a special interest in childrens' welfare and so, we can now see the reason for this TV report. Hayley goes on to sing the Empress's very own words, over some excellent archive footage of the Imperial couple's last 50 years of marriage. The video ends with the Imperial couple sitting in tennis clothes and this is because they first met at a tennis court... in 1957!
