Proposition 2 is an initiative that will appear on the November 2008 ballot in California. This measure would ban the cruel and inhumane confinement of veal calves, egg-laying hens, and breeding pigs in cages and crates so small they can't even turn around or extend their limbs. Yes on Prop 2 is a coalition of animal protection organizations, veterinarians, environmentalists, food safety organizations, and concerned citizens who joined efforts to launch a statewide initiative for the November 2008 ballot--one that will improve the lives of millions of farm animals in California. Yes on Prop 2 is sponsored by The Humane Society of the United States, Farm Sanctuary and other animal protection groups, veterinarians and public health professionals.

	FarmAnimalWelfare (8 months ago) Thank you to everyone for the support of this new legislation. Although California Prop 2 creates a minimal improvement in the lives of factory farm animals, it proves that people recognize the need for compassion to animals.
	oKawaUSA (8 months ago) BTW, the corporate farmers don't even give a damn about the small family farmers! They're telling lies! In the 80's many corporate farmers received subsidies from tax payers, while smaller FAMILY farmer's couldn't, what happened then was the small family farmers couldn't compete with the BIG Corporate Monsters, and had to sell their land to the Big Corporate Monsters, all thanks to Reagan!
	BigStinkyWorm (8 months ago) If farmers raised chickens where they were beaten, couldn't reach food, unable to move around, killed at will. How in the hell would they be laying eggs. You need as little stress for the bird so that there can be an abundance of eggs. The crates give the chickens ample space to breath, interact and eat. If you are voting yes on prop 2 you are welcoming the opportunity for disease in California with unregulated eggs coming in at cheaper costs and Californians willingly buying them. VOTE A BIG FAT NO ON 2!!!

	lordkishkumen (8 months ago) Vote NO against vegetable cruelty. My carrots and potatoes are still alive as I boil them and they don't even have a mouth to scream from. I once knew a baker who was arrested because he beat the eggs and whipped the cream. Vegetables have families to ya know, and have dreams and ambitions and will have a positive impact on society. I make friends with my Thanksgiving turkey before I sadly eat him. Yes on 2!!
