Dame Shirley Bassey performing at the 2006 Faenol Festival in Bangor under very bad weather conditions. She is wearing a fabulous new gown after selling most of her gowns for charity at Christies. Shirley jokingly referred to this gown as 'The Canary'.
The Faenol Festival (Welsh: Gŵyl y Faenol) is a music festival organised by Welsh singer Bryn Terfel and held annually on the Faenol Estate (Welsh: Y Faenol), near Y Felinheli in Gwynedd, north Wales.
The festival was launched in 2000 and traditionally takes place on August Bank Holiday weekend. It includes both classical and Welsh popular music.
In 2006 the four day festival was attended by over 35,000 people, a record figure for the event. Part 4.
Lyrics The lady is a tramp:
I've wined and dined on mulligan stew And never wished for turkey I've hitched and hiked and drifted to From Maine to Alberquque Alas I missed the beaux arts ball And what is twice as sad I was never at a party Where they honoured Noel Coward His social circles move to fast for me My hobohemia is the place to be I get too hungry for dinner at eight I love the theatre but never come late I never bother with people I hate That's why this lady is a tramp
I don't like crap games with barons and earls Won't go to Harlem in ermine and pearls Won't dish the dirt with the rest of those girls That's why this lady is a tramp.
I like the free fresh wind in my hair Life without care I'm broke... that's oke Hate California, it's cold and it's damp That's why this lady is a tramp
I like the free fresh wind in my hair Life without care I'm broke... that's oke Hate California, it's cold and it's damp That's why this lady is a tramp.
And I love it Yes, I'm a tramp, and I love it And I wish that you were coming my way yeah I wish that you were coming my way yeah I wish that you wre coming my way Yes, I'm a lady But a tramp.
Lyrics You needed me:
I cried a tear You wiped it dry I was confused You cleared my mind I sold my soul You bought it back for me And held me up and gave me dignity Somehow you needed me.
You gave me strength To stand alone again To face the world Out on my own again You put me high upon a pedestal So high that I could almost see eternity You needed me You needed me
And I can't believe it's you I can't believe it's true I needed you and you were there And I'll never leave, why should I leave I'd be a fool 'Cause I've finally found someone who really cares
You held my hand When it was cold When I was lost You took me home You gave me hope When I was at the end And turned my lies Back into truth again You even called me friend
You needed me You needed me.
