In the Fall of 2009, Dean Strickland became the owner of a Chevy van, which was a gift from someone, with whom, he met several years before, and with whom, he hitched a ride down Texas Hwy. 377 in the very same van getting to his show. But, before then, Dean also known as The Hitchhiking Guitarman took his musical career one ride at a time for over four years after attending eight years of music college. Through his hard work, talent and admitted "good fortune," he has safely traversed across Texas, Tennessee and California via the rides of more almost 1,200 generous strangers, picking up fans and bolstering a supportive publicity base as he went. Strickland has his faith in God, and this country-western music performer hasn't just been following his dreams - he's literally hitchhiked toward them.

While hitchhiking, he completed a disc of original songs that he wrote and recorded on the road called "Hitchhiking Guitarman".
