On Saturday, November 21, 2009, Fannie Mae will host the 22nd Annual Help the Homeless Walkathon. While we have made progress over the years in combating chronic homelessness, it is important to stress we need to continue to be diligent in our efforts, especially this year. 2009 is a year of unprecedented economic challenge, particularly related to communities and neighborhoods. This year we must also focus on newly vulnerable citizens the additional 1.5 million people who may become homeless as a result of the recession and job loss.
