Ben "Son" Johnson Jr. (June 13, 1918 - April 8, 1996) was an Academy Award-winning American motion picture actor who was mainly cast in Westerns. He was also a rodeo cowboy, stuntman, and rancher.

"She Wore a Yellow Ribbon" is a 1949 western film directed by John Ford and starring John Wayne. The film was the second of Ford's trilogy of films focusing on the US Cavalry, the other two films being Fort Apache (1948) and Rio Grande (1950). With a budget of $1.6 million, the film was one of the most expensive westerns of the time, but became a major hit for RKO and remains a popular classic today.

WHEN JOHNNY COMES MARCHING HOME

WHEN JOHNNY COMES MARCHING HOME
(Mitch Miller)
Lyrics:
When Johnny comes marching home again,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
We'll give him a hearty welcome then,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
Oh, the men will cheer the boys will shout
The ladies they will all turn out,
And we'll all feel gay
When Johnny comes marching home.
And we'll all feel gay
When Johnny comes marching home.
Get ready for the Jubilee,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
We'll give the hero three times three,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
Well, the laurel wreath is ready now
To place upon his loyal brow,
And we'll all feel gay
When Johnny comes marching home.
And we'll all feel gay
When Johnny comes marching home.
In eighteen hundred and sixty-one
Hurrah! Hurrah!
That was when the war begun,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
In eighteen hundred and sixty-two,
Both sides were falling to,
And we'll all drink stone wine,
When Johnny comes marching home.
And we'll all drink stone wine,
When Johnny comes marching home.
In eighteen hundred and sixty-three,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
Old Abe, he ended slavery
Hurrah! Hurrah!
In eighteen hundred and sixty-three
Old Abe, he ended slavery
And we'll all drink stone wine,
When Johnny comes marching home.
And we'll all drink stone wine,
When Johnny comes marching home.
In eighteen hundred and sixty-four,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
Abe called for five hundred thousand more,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
In eighteen hundred and sixty-five,
They talked rebellion--strife;
And we'll all drink stone wine
When Johnny comes marching home.
And we'll all drink stone wine
When Johnny comes marching home.

Remember The Alamo - Folksong - Written By Jane Bowers hauptmann... - 153 views - 5 days ago
REMEMBER THE ALAMO
written by Jane Bowers

Jane Bowers (May 29, 1921 June 18, 2000) was a Texas folk singer and songwriter best known for her composition "Remember the Alamo". Many of her songs were primarily recorded by The Kingston Trio.
Jane Bowers details the last days of 180 soldiers at the Alamo and names several famous figures who fought at the Alamo, including Mexican general Santa Anna and Texans: Jim Bowie, William Barrett Travis and Davy Crockett. The song is composed over the harmony of La Follia. It champions the Texans' efforts against Mexico to establish an independent republic.
Tex Ritter first released the song as the b-side of "Gunsmoke" in 1955. Ritter's recording was used in the film "Down Liberty Road" the following year. While the song was never a hit single and did not initially make a big impact on the folk community, it has since been covered by many important folk and country artists.

Movie Scenes taken from Walt Disney's
"Davy Crockett at The Alamo"

FESS PARKER Jr. (born August 16, 1924) is an American film and television actor best known for his 1950s portrayals of Davy Crockett for Walt Disney and of Daniel Boone in the late 1960s.

DAVID CROCKETT (August 17, 1786 March 6, 1836) was a celebrated 19th-century American folk hero, frontiersman, soldier and politician; referred to in popular culture as Davy Crockett and often by the epithet King of the Wild Frontier. He represented Tennessee in the U.S. House of Representatives, served in the Texas Revolution, and died at the Battle of the Alamo. His nickname was the stuff of legend, but in life he shunned the title Davy and referred to himself exclusively as David.
