I am an HVAC/R journeyman technician in the Phoenix, AZ area. This area is infested with HVAC hacks, especially in the residential HVAC side of the business.

I have not only witnessed outright jackleg hackery by the unskilled techs or those techs who just don't care, but many of the local HVAC companies themselves don't care about doing anything properly as they are in the business ONLY to make a quick buck in this hot Arizona climate. They don't care about proper training for their technicians as long as they bring in $$$ from the customers.

In the past 7 years of being in this area I have collected many pictures and some videos of the problem in our area which I will start to share on youtube.

One day I could only hope that the corrupt local government would ENFORCE all building codes and require these jacklegs to actually pull a permit for these installations so the problem with safety and improper system access would improve!

Although I'm not involved in HVAC in any way, your photo/video diary of lousy repairs/installations is astonishing.

There are many of us who attempt to help our customers save money. My accounts are soley commercial/industrial. I feel very bad for the residential customer who will soon need to replace his or her entire system including the referigerant piping thanks to our government forcing 410a down our throats. I don't care how much my customers love me, explaining this one wont be easy. Thank you for exposing these hacks. I view it as comedy, we all know it can't be stopped. Get out of the attic....go commercial!!!

Thanks to your suggestions - my husband went out and paid attention to the fan. It would spin very slow - then stop. He put 3in one oil in the fan - and now it's doing great. ( is that OK?!) We probably need to replace the fan motor anyway...but at least tonight with temperatures changing from 75 to 30...we'll be OK. Hopefully it will be enough till after Christmas! Thank You, again! Best Channel Ever!!!! Nice to know that I am not the only service tech constantly mopping up after other "experts". Amazing how technical the entire HVAC industy is and how few understand the basic concepts involved. Ask a 100 guys how a trap works and you will find one person that can answer the question correctly. Enjoy the videos and get a chuckle out of each one. Truley, this is better than the Comedy Channel. Keep up the good work and I give you credit for not selling out to keep the hackers profitable. Crap like this just erodes the trade and proves the lack of talent in the industry.

This mnfiresprinkler character is a hoot. I hope someone shows up at his house to REMOVE his HVAC system. No heat. No AC. He doesn't need those 'luxuries', right?

I'm gonna call Ripley's, too. This must be the first instance of a colon with vocal cords.
