magyarul lsd. lennt. Sándor Ádám (born: 1940) is playing the violin, accompanied by Sándor Csoóri on contrafiddle.
He was double-bassist in the band of his father, the famous solo violinist István Ádám, from the village of Szék [Sic, Romania]. The collection contains some two hours of video recordings of this musician.
This recording was made around 1992 in Budapest.

The Szék slow dance is a traditional dance from Szék.
The tunes played in the Szék slow dance style are among the most beautiful among the lyrical melodies of Hungarian folk music. Typically, a variety of different lyrics could be sung to the same tune. In the urban folk-dancing clubs, this melody was accompanied by the lyric that began: The cart is creaking, pulled by six fine oxen.
The discovery of music from the Szék area had a profound impact on the birth of urban folk dancing culture in the 1970s.

We recommend that anyone who is interested in Hungarian folk music become familiar with the Szék music collected by László Lajtha in the 1940s.

Ádám Sándor "Icsán Sanyi" (szül 1940) játszik hegedűn, kiséri Csoóri Sándor kontrán.
Icsán Sanyi, édesapja a híres széki prímás Ádám István "Icsán" zenekarában bőgős volt. A széki zenészről kb. 2 órai videó anyag van a gyűjteményben.
A felvétel 1992 körül készült Budapesten.

A széki lassú nevű tánc a széki táncrend része.
A széki lassúban játszott dallamok a magyar népzene legszebb lírai dallamai közé tartoznak. Jellemzően egy-egy dallamra más-más szöveget is énekelhettek. Ezt a dallamot a városi táncházi kultúrában "Csikorog a szekér szép hat ökör húzza" szövegkezdettel éneklik.
A széki zene "felfedezése" volt a legnagyobb hatással a városi táncház mozgalom elindulására az 1970-es években.

Mindenkinek, aki érdeklődik a magyar népzene iránt, ajánljuk Lajtha László 1940-es évekbeli széki gyűjtéseinek megismerését.
