Some thanks are in order before I get into the details. I'd like to thank Darren Smith, the previous WR holder, for his Palace of Darkness strategy, and to Deviance for some tips here and there in the Light World. A big thanks goes out to Rod Jones, the long lost founder of Top Secret Zelda, a prominent attraction of the original ZHQ. Without that inspiration, I would never have gotten into the proper mindset to achieve this run.

This run is the result of over 200 attempts in the last two and a half months. Over this course of time I achieved several runs that were below the world record time, but I found sufficient mistakes in them that warranted additional attempts. The run that is before you now is probably the best run I could do with this route. The only way I am going to get a faster time is with a faster route. Of everything I did, maybe there is a faster Ice Palace route. I don't know. I thought this run was fast, I only hope you do, too. This run ranks right up there with my previous Ocarina of Time run. This run I think demonstrates more skill because the game is harder than Ocarina of Time. It is several hours shorter, though.

There is one issue that will probably come up with a strategy choice that many of you won't get unless you actually play the game. In Swamp Ruins, I push a statue onto a switch when I have the Cane of Somaria. You can't use the Cane of Somaria to make a block on that switch because when you go right and the block is off screen, it breaks up and vanishes before you can reach the door. Thus, it is not a viable solution. Just thought I'd clear that up since I know many will ask why I didn't use it.

With this run complete, I won't be attempting anymore A Link to the Past runs unless somebody beats this time. With that said, I'm going to enjoy my holidays, and when I get back, it will be time to begin work on the next speed run. Whether that game involves a talking hat, sailing the high seas, or a dreaming island...only time will tell!
