Getting Superior Audio in Adobe Premiere Elements
88hawaii: Here's something that I learned that helps my audio immensely... Install the latest Quicktime (7.0 or higher). It installs the Apple Lossless option on Premiere Elements 3.0 or 4.0. The audio works unbelievably well. Be sure to go into your compiling settings and choose the Audio Tab...
88hawaii: When you're ready to compile: Click on File ---> Export ---> Quicktime... Select LAN (1024K), Click on the Advanced Button, which brings you to the Export Settings. Click on Audio Tab, Select Apple Lossless. Choose Frequency 48 kHz, Stereo. Remember to save it, so you don't have to keep setting it.

Which Camera Do You Recommend?
Grope2: I've seen the majority of topics but can't seem to find a absolution in what camera to choose. I have seen that the v570 and v705 are meant to be very good but which is better, is it wroth spending extra on the v705? I heard that the fuki finepix z5fd is quite good. Can someone wrap this up for me? Thanks in advance
MotoMonologue: The V705 has 7.1 megapixels compared to the V570 which is something like 5 megapixes I think. The V705 also has the ability to edit/trim videos from the camera itself. Also you can take screenshots from videos on the V705. Those appear to be the only differences

V570 is history! V705 is endangered!
CDWilliams: the 705 is on the terminally endangered list now. you can't find them anywhere.
88hawaii: Yeah, I have to agree with that. The v570 is discontinued, but you can still find the v705 on the kodak.com website. Get them while you can. Avoid the silver and pink. Get the black one to reduce stray light.

Video editing issues with the v570's *.MOV files
88hawaii: One of our members pointed out that the *.MOV files are not editable with Windows Movie Maker. Any suggestions?
GhostRiderHell: I use adobe premiere, i export it as a avi and then take it into movie maker, there should be programs to convert it. I still need to figure how to keep the video from degrading, youtube really mess up my vid.

88hawaii: I'm usually asked this question about a dozen times a month - hey, did you try (insert brand/model camera) yet? It's really cool because it has (insert great feature), blah blah blah.... I'm tired of answering this, so I'm going to list the stringent criteria that makes the Kodak a hands-down winner...
88hawaii: 1. Ultra-clear and smooth video. Files are MOV format using MP4 compression. 2. Ultra-compact file size. 320x240@30fps makes a 68min video that takes up only 770MB. 3. Ultra-wide 23mm lens. You'll need a wide lens for that "action look" 4. Non-protruding lens. The lens does not extend, and fits in a motorcycle helmet with the visor down. 5. Superior audio - the microphone is able to automatically adjust to record your vlogging voice clearly, and filter out noise.

SD Cards: 2Gb and 4Gb
razo045: I wanna know if anyone has experienced using a 4Gb SD card for their EasyShare 570. I'm getting mixed opinions. Some say for videos it only supports up to 2Gb(similar to the FAT16/FAT32 issue in regards to space). Has anyone tried and come across any issues using 4Gb (A 4Gb would be similar to using a whole handycam tape - rendering camcorders obsolete). I need some more info on this.
88hawaii: I never got 4GB to work on the camera. I contacted Kodak, and they said it doesn't work. I asked if they had any firmware updates that would address this issue, but they said they didn't plan on having it. I found out the hard way, but it doesn't work out. I would sure love to use the 4GB or even the 8GB SD cards. That would totally take the cake.

Glitches & Bugs
88hawaii: I've made my 2000th video clip, and I've noticed a glitch/error that has showed up around every 500 or so clips... The camera has an error reading that says "Storage Card Out of Memory". What I end up doing is leaving the camera on, and taking the battery out, abruptly killing (and resetting) the camera. Then everything is fine.
Squeeby: I notice that when the battery is low the camera has trouble processing videos. I take out the battery (only way it turns off) then if I try to view that video it has a blue screen with "Unrecognized File Format". Sometimes taking a photo first then taking video seems to fix that. Weird..

Newbie Camera Questions Here
88hawaii: Questions by someone... 1. Does the LCD turn off while taking video, and if not, do you find the LCD distracting while riding? 2. How good is the battery life? How long can you record before it dies? 3. How much video do you get on your card? I assume you have at least a 1 gig card, so how much time per gig?
88hawaii: No, the LCD does not turn off while riding. When not recording, the LCD turns off when not recording, and the camera turns off anywhere from 1 - 10 minutes, depending on what you set it at. Only when in pitch darkness does the LCD become a distraction. Battery life is 68 minutes per battery. You can record 68 minutes. 68minutes - 770mb @ 320x240 resolution. I use a 2GB card, so you can figure out how much time I can record on it.

Extreme Modifications
88hawaii: An electrical engineer that purchased this camera mentioned something about putting a micro switch to turn the LCD on/off. This would be enormously useful for battery life and night-riding. The LCD wouldn't blind the rider. If anyone is opening up their V570 camera, I want to hear about it. Do share!
titerado: Mine came with a nice soft sleve for the camera, what Im doing at the moment is just placing this across the back of the camera to deal with the night riding - not ideal but an initial compromise.
