The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in partnership with the Dance Exchange, Generations United and the Rachel Carson Council, Inc. invite your team to enter the Rachel Carson dance video contest. Dance is the newest media to this intergenerational contest that is in its third year.
Take your cameras outside to capture the sense of wonder you see, experience, and move in nature. You might capture your own back yard, a favorite spot in your community, or place you have traveled to for an outdoor adventure. Create a video that best express the sense of wonder you feel for the sea, the night sky, a waterfall, birds, wildlife, and all that is beautiful to your eyes.
Remember this contest is a team project. The team should include at least two people from different generations. We encourage you to share your love of nature with a child, an older relative or friend. When we teach our eyes and ears and senses to focus on the wonders of nature, we open ourselves to the wonders around us.
Entries will be judged on its creativity, originality and its ability to capture a "sense of wonder."
Entries will also be judged on:
• How the intergenerational team was went about planning the video and what made this project special because it involved persons from different generations; and
• How the creation of the video brought the team in touch with the natural world.
