Nada Surf wants you to direct their next music video, and Barsuk Records will award the winning contest entry $3,000.00.
Nada Surf is looking for a video for "Weightless", the third single off their current release Lucky. Aspiring auteurs need only check out the song (available for streaming at http://www.myspace.com/nadasurf ), shoot and edit a video, and upload it to http://www.youtube.com/group/nadasurf... before the contest entry deadline of September 19th, 2008.
The contest winner will be chosen by a panel of judges with a proven track record of excellent taste, and Barsuk Records will award the winning entry $3,000.00 cash*. Second and third place winners will receive copies of the forthcoming Nada Surf vinyl box set (due for release this fall, and including all five of the band's studio albums on vinyl, packaged together with a retrospective book of poster art, lyrics, and liner notes), an assortment of Nada Surf t-shirts and CDs and some gear from the good folks at Dakine.
Remember, submissions must be received by September 19th, 2008 and winners will be notified shortly thereafter.

Video / Creative Guidelines:
We're looking for something memorable and fun, but we're not giving out any creative guidelines. It's totally up to your vision and creativity.
Technical Guidelines:
You must have a You Tube account to participate in the contest and you also must join the Nada Surf “Weightless” You Tube group at http://youtube.com/group/nadasurfweig... Once your video is done, all you have to do is upload your video to your You Tube account. Then, go to http://youtube.com/group/nadasurfweig... and select “Add Videos”. Select your video from your account and add it to the group! (Please, keep a high resolution version for yourself, since the winner will need to supply us with a broadcast-quality master to claim their prize.)
*Rules / Submission Guidelines:
- Copyrighted materials (from films, unlicensed stock footage, etc) and submissions that violate any other laws will not be eligible to win the contest and may be removed.
- Clips that are clearly not legitimate submissions (e.g. unrelated promotional videos, etc) will be discarded.
- Make sure we can contact you about your video. Upload from your own YouTube account on which you can check messages, or include contact info in your profile.
- Please don't submit multiple versions of the same video or very similar videos
- If your video is rejected, chances are there's a good reason for it. Please don't continually re-submit the same videos.
