You might win $1K.
Southern California students (high school [ages 14+ with guardian consent], undergrad and grad students [including students who graduated within the last 5 years] are invited to submit 30- and 60-second PSAs for BREATHE LA. The length (30- or 60-seconds) is the filmmaker’s choice. Collaborations between Health Science and Film students are strongly encouraged.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
What is a PSA? A public service announcement (PSA) or community service announcement (PSA) is a non-commercial advertisement broadcast on radio or television, ostensibly for the public good. PSAs are intended to modify public attitudes by raising awareness about specific issues.

So, you’re interested? Good! It all boils down to four steps that are all within your power to complete:
1. Connect with us on YouTube and MySpace or Facebook.
2. Create a PSA on asthma following the stipulations below.
3. Summit your PSA through our YouTube contest group.
4. Recruit ”your people” to view your PSA.
Submissions are welcomed from April 1, 2008 to July 4, 2008. Judging takes place on or around July 31, 2008.

Through the MySpace and Facebook profiles, send us your name, email address, mailing address, phone number and the name of your film school. If you are a finalist, you will be contacted.
2. PSA message: What a kid should do during an asthma attack.
BREATHE LA’s mission statement: “Promoting clean air and healthy lungs through research, education and technology.”
Winning PSAs will incorporate the BREATHE LA logo, Asthma Lung Power information and note our website (www.breathela.org) and will be factually accurate.
3. Submit your PSA: Go to www.youtube.com/group/BreatheLAContest20 08. If it’s not offensive, we will make it viewable to the general YouTube public.
4. Promote it: Get your friends and family to view your submission. Sure, it needs to have incorporated specific content criteria, but tie breakers are determined by viewing volume.
Prizes:
1st place prize: $1000 check.
PSA will be shown on BREATHE LA’s website.
PSA will be featured on BREATHE LA's YouTube page with the possibility of being featured on YouTube's Nonprofits & Activism page.
2nd place prize: $500 check.
3rd place prize: $250 check.
