About Me:
Born in Moscow in 1981, Alexandra Grot began studying the piano with her mother before switching to the flute at the age of eight after hearing a concert by James Galway. At age 10 she gave her first recital and the same year the young musician was noticed at the young soloists competition "Classical Heritage", therefore becoming a prize winner in both piano and flute categories. In 1993 she entered the famous Gnessin School where she studied with the Solo Flutist of the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, prof. Albert Goffmann. From the age of seventeen she continued her studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, in the class of prof. Pierre-Yves Artaud, who extolled her outstanding musical gifts. She then went on to advanced study with prof. András Adorján at the Musikhochschule in Munich. She has also received advice from Emmanuel Pahud, Jean-Claude Gérard, Benoît Fromanger, and Ransom Wilson.
From age 15 she begins to win international prizes: 1st Prize at the International Competition "Jeunesses Musicales" in Bucarest (1997), 2nd Prize at the International Competition "Pacem in Terris" in Bayreuth, Germany (2000), 1st Prize and three special prizes at the Carl Nielsen International Competition in Odense, Danemark (2006).
Yet very young she gives concerts as a soloist or with orchestra as well, first participating in tours organized by Russian foundations for the young artists (Croatia, Bulgaria, Poland, Greece, Sweden, Israel), then in France where she gives recitals in Auditorium du Louvre, Musée d'Orsay and Théatre de la Ville in Paris and takes part at the International Festival of Colmar, invited by Vladimir Spivakov, at the International Festival in Sion in Switzerland, invited by Shlomo Mintz, at the Juventus Festival and the Festival of Grenoble, and in Danemark - Festival of Sorø, Copenhagen Summer Festival and Nyborg Castle. Among her chamber music partners are Marie-Pierre Langlamet, Alexandre Tharaud, Alexei Ogrintchouk, Quatuor Parisii. She makes replacements in different formations like the Orchestre de Paris and the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra and gets to work with Myung-Whun Chung, Peter Eötvos, György Kurtag and Christoph Eschenbach. Her concerts were broadcasted by the French and Danish radio, as well as TV channel Mezzo. Alexandra Grot was awarded the Juventus Prize 2004. Her first CD dedicated to Russian music, published by Harmonia Mundi in spring 2006 in the series "Nouveaux musiciens", received 5 Diapasons and was warmly acclaimed by the critics.

The J.S Bach, Partita for flute solo. Simply amazing and undeniably very well executed and interpreted for its period.
Well Done !
