John F. Glassford Sr. was a yardmaster at Inland Steel Company before retiring. Before that, he held many jobs, mostly as an auto mechanic, autobody and paint. Before that, I was told he sold just about anything that he could sell, sewing machines, refridgerators, appliances, ? Someone who knew him when he was younger could probably give me more details. Before that, he went into the Air Force where he met Masako (my mom) during the Korean War.

John Sr. loved gadgets. He bought just about anything that moved, made noise, captured noise, showed or captured video or pictures.
Movies:
Last movie I saw with my Dad before he died was "Finding Forrester" with Sean Connery. Good movie too.
Music:
John "Jack" used to love the boogie-woogie big band music before his Christian conversion. Later he enjoyed many types of music but leaned toward "worship" songs and music.
Books:
The Bible became his, well, Bible. I think his favorite book became 'The Late Great Planet Earth' by Hal Lindsey. He attributed this book, given to him by his second eldest son - Douglas, to his Christian awakening or conversion.
