Sam grew up in Southend in Essex, home county of his hero Billy Bragg. You should hear Duckworth's version of 'A New England', then you should hear his own song, 'The Lighthouse Keeper', detailing his love/hate relationship with the 'scummy town' he calls home.

In his teenage years he served time in local hardcore bands, before realising that he could say more on his own. He took himself off round the UK on self-generated, self-funded, wing-and-a-prayer-and-a-rucksa ck tours.

In autumn 2005 Duckworth played the In The City music industry conference in Manchester; Eventually, in March this year, Atlantic Records signed Duckworth. Then he headed off to Austin, Texas, for what would be a series of brilliant gigs - in barbeques, in car parks, in the vicinity of Billy Bragg and of the similarly spiky acoustician Plan B - at the SXSW festival.

Suddenly, everyone was talking about Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly.

'Keep Singing Out' Video Karaoke Video Competition

To celebrate the release of Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly's new single 'Keep Singing Out' (download from 5th May and to buy 12th May), we're asking you to sing out in a new karaoke video competition.

This is how it's going to work...

Head to http://www.myfreedownload.co.uk/getcapekaraoke to download an instrumental version of 'Keep Singing Out', then we want you to film you, or you and your friends singing the song!

Once you've recorded your version we want you to upload it to Youtube and send the video link to getcapecomps@atlanticrecords.co.uk

All the videos will be added to the Get Cape Youtube channel on a special playlist and the best ones will be made into a video montage to accompany the track.

The very best singer(s) will receive framed and signed artwork, and an iPod Shuffle with a mixtape of tracks picked by Sam himself.

The closing date is Monday 5th May.
