Born in Aachen, Georg completed his degrees in performance and teaching cello and subsequently classical guitar at Freiburg, Germany. During this time he received a scholarship to attend a masterclass with Enrico Mainardi and did a masterclass with Janos Starker.
He conduced chamber music classes at Koenigstein and Salzburg.
Georg lives today in the Blue Mountains / Australia and shares his time between performing, composing, recording, writing on music and teaching cello and guitar.
Unlike other musicians he has developed from a dedicated teacher to become a performer. After his 5 children had grown up he took up again practising daily - inspired by the concert series he had created - realising the ideas he had taught for 3 decades.
He recorded the 6 Suites for cello solo by J.S.Bach as well as Benjamin Britten Suite No 2, Brahms Sonata e minor and Schubert Sonata for Arpeggione for 2 MBS FM / Sydney.
Since then he has recorded 8 CD's, as soloist and in Duo and Trio.
He proposed in 1997 to give regular cello concerts in the Cathedral Chamber at Jenolan Caves / Australia - reputed for the world's purest acoustics.
These concerts have developed into the longest series of cello concerts in history: more than 150 cello solo concerts in 13 years; more than 15 000 visitors from all over the world have taken the drive to the isolated cave.
Every 3rd Saturday of the month you can visit the cello concert at 4pm, every 4th Saturday of the month the Paganini Duo performs Gypsy favorites with Georg on guitar and Gustaw Szelski on violin. For bookings ph (AU) 02 6359 3911.
