About Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina
Founded in 1980, the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina's mission is to harness and supply resources so that no one goes hungry in central and eastern North Carolina where hunger has been and remains a serious problem. The Food Bank has established five warehouses across the area: Raleigh, Durham, Greenville, Southern Pines and Wilmington, and expanded the service area to 34 counties covering nearly 19,000 square miles and containing some of the most rural communities in the state. The Food Bank provides an average of 2.7 million pounds of food a month to low-income clients through partner agencies operating food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, after-school programs, group homes, and day care and senior centers.
