God, is a 'consuming fire', and fire is a symbol of the Holy Spirit. To be consumed, is to be fully immersed in; baptized. When wood is ignited by fire, it becomes one with the fire until fully consumed by it becoming fire, and so it is when we become one with the Lord; His love burns out our dross.
