Paris Air Show - 787 Cockpit window technology fly4fun - 1,339 views - 2 weeks ago
Blogged about this here: http://bit.ly/EkOJK

In addition to a solar reflective coating to keep the cockpit cool, a thin-film gold coating is used as an anti-fog device, eliminating the need for blowing air to defog the front windows. A PPG representative explains.

Sunrise on the summer solstice (best viewed in HD) fly4fun - 730 views - 2 weeks ago
Just some raw footage of a sunrise. No music. Just the sounds and view from the cockpit. The other pilot didn't realize I was filming it, he thought I was taking a few still shots. So you get some candid comments, too.

See the blog post here: http://bit.ly/bETpD

We managed to visit with the creators of the new electrically dim-able window shades. We were shocked to see what a range in brightness they have.

737 cockpit video - takeoff and landing practice fly4fun - 28,609 views - 2 months ago
See the blog post I wrote about this training video:

http://www.gadling.com/2009/04 /29/cockpit-chronicles-practic ing-takeoff-and-landings-in-a- 737-w/

We call 'em 'bounces.' This video was taken in 1999 when we were required to perform some takeoff and landing practice in the actual airplane after we finished up our simulator training.

Our training airport was San Jose, CA with the touch and go landings at Sacramento. Airplane was a brand new 737-800.

Normally I avoid filming below 10,000 feet, but this was a training video, used by our check airman to evaluate the procedures used for future 'bounces'.

Airliner crossings fly4fun - 20,912 views - 2 months ago
While flying from Dallas to Boston, I decided to film as many of the 'fly-by's' as possible. The recent 1,000 foot separation that began a few years ago (called RVSM) has been great for these interesting views. Just wanted to share this with you...

Music from www.garageband.com. It's Mark A. Farley's "Even Sorrow Passes" and I think it fits with the sights well.

Competitour Day 3 Challenges - "Madurodam" fly4fun - 733 views - 3 months ago
http://www.gadling.com/tag/com petitours

A few scenes from our Competitours challenge at Maduradam. It's a miniature (1/24th) scale world. In the contest video, I called the people living there, "Holland Fairies" and explained that they froze when big people were around.

Here are a few clips from that video and some sights around town. Since we went out of town a ways, we only accomplished 3 tasks, but we really had a good time.
