Mission: To use the power of film and video to promote health, strengthen communities, and enrich the lives of the world's vulnerable and uprooted.

Vision: FilmAid International addresses the frequently neglected problems of refugee despair and psychological trauma. FilmAid uses the power of film to break monotony and isolation, as well as to convey essential information. Films help to restore dignity, quality of life, and hope - which have been missing in the lives of refugees who often languish in camps for years.

I am currently taking the Movies that Matter class at Otis College of Art and Design which is partnered with FilmAid International. I had never heard of FilmAid before taking this class, i think that partnering it with a film class is a really good way to raise awareness about FilmAid. I believe it is a cause that should be recognized because it is making a profound positive impact on the refugees. It is very inspiring and uplifting to see how the people involved in FilmAid are improving the quality of life and helping those in need with the power of film and video. I feel fortunate to have been able to meet and listen to some of these people who are making a difference through this cause in taking this class and I am very glad to be educated about FilmAid and will surely recommend it to anyone else who is interested.

Dear Film Aid™
I am currently a student at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles. I'm in a class called "Movies that Matter" and we have thoroughly learned about your program and what it does. Having been to 8 different countries in Africa, I understand how important entertainment and activities are to the communities out there. I've learned a lot from you guys and really admire the fact that your actually introducing video cameras and filmmaking materials to the people.
Thanks
Charlie

FilmAid has done some amazing things and after interacting with them and learning about them more from my class at Otis I have been truly fascinated and understand the validity behind what FilmAid does. I also hope to continue my active participation in the program after I graduate. Thanks Filmaid!!

I have never heard about FilmAid International until i took the Movies that Matter class at Otis. I'm glad I took this class because I have found that the people of FilmAid are doing amazing work. I'm really inspired that FilmAid is using movies to relieve the daily stresses of refugees. I especially enjoy seeing the films that the refugees make themselves. I believe by providing programs like the participatory film making program, there is a sense of much needed community, unity, and creative energy being produced. I will make sure to spread the word and works done by FilmAid International.

I had no idea what FilmAid was about or have even heard anything about it before my course Movies That Matter at Otis. Honestly I quesitoned the impact that film can have on not only refugees but people in general. Being constantly surrounded by reality television I haven't been exposed to a lot of meaningful films. After taking the time to wtach movies that actually serve a purpose I realized that It affected me in a way that I had forgotten films were capable of doing. Film Aid not only brings happiness to these refugee camps but also awareness about social and even everyday issues that are so easily given up on. I really have become a fan of FilmAid in every aspect and will continue promote it in every way I can....THANK YOU!

FilmAid refugee camp films gives the audience a new access to over 35 million refugees worldwide and their plight in a realistic manner while establishing the crucial importance of film and its power on humanity. Also it reflects the state of not only Uganda, but other African nations. After I taking this movies that matter class, Ive got a great chance to share the new world from different movies. Thanks!!

Thanks.

As a film enthusiast, I often forget how fortunate I am to experience movies for entertainment and educational purposes. Thousands of refugees have experienced the humanitarian work that Filmaid International has worked so hard to provide within their camps; however, there are countless refugees around the world that still need their help. The films screened for these individuals are able to witness the power of movies. The films take the refugees to places most of which will never see in person, allowing them to see a world beyond their own and sometimes even see films that will help them grown internally for the benefit of their communities. Anything that we can do to spread the word about Filmaid International needs to be implemented in order to sustain this fantastic organization.
