My quick lap around the 24-hr course at Daytona in my 1999 Corvette Fixed Roof Coupe when it still had the stock LS1 motor in it. This was a PBOC event on Halloween weekend, and 7 or 8 of us from our Birmingham-based track-day group caravanned down.

Pretty awesome trip. The banking is unreal, and is quite narrow compared to, say, Talladega. Makes you feel like you're driving through a tunnel...the video really doesn't do it justice. Top speed in that car was in the 155-160mph range going into the tri-oval.

Despite a broken timing chain causing "Red Beast 2's" motor (LS2 402 stroker in a 1999 Corvette Fixed Roof Coupe) to expire 28 miles into the warm-up session on Friday morning 3/6/09, I managed to clock a personal best lap of 1:41.50. Would've been fun to see what was possible had the motor not gone AWOL... "Don't she purr, though!!"
