Taken at the Ram's Head Tavern in Annapolis, MD on July 5, 2009, we see why Jay Reincke, the third Jay to head up this group (succeeding Jay #1, Jay Traynor, and Jay #2, Jay Black), was chosen. His rendition of "Cara Mia" is just as good as, or even BETTER than, the original sung by Jay Black. The other three members --- Marty Sanders on acoustic guitar, Howie Kane (a.k.a. "Chick Magnet," as he was known as early on in his career), standing on Jay's right, and Sandy Deanne, at the far end --- prove that they still have what it takes to deliver perfect harmony (they ain't too shabby singing lead, either!) If you get a chance, GO SEE THEM! I guarantee you'll be completely satisfied and entertained! (I've seen them there three times already!) Visit the group's website at: www.jayandtheamericans.com.

Taken at the Richmond International Raceway Complex Concert Pavilion in Richmond, VA on Sunday, October 5, 2008, this is a short segment of Drake's first track and big hit from his second CD, "It's Only Time," entitled "Up Periscope." Despite its suggestive lyrics, it's actually quite a catchy tune and we hear elements of such influences as The Beatles come through, as in so many of Drake's other songs! He is truly a talented actor and musician. He'll always be remembered as the character Drake Parker on the Nickelodeon TV sitcom "Drake & Josh."
Drake's third CD is due for release in late 2009. I highly recommend his first two - "Telegraph" and "It's Only Time," especially to fans of The Beatles or The Beach Boys.

Steve Smith, front man for his blues band, The Meteors, is one of the best blues guitarists around! This video was taken at the Cowboy Cafe South (now gone) in Arlington, VA on September 27, 2003. Here, we see Steve performing one of his originals called Lightning Bolt, and the only accompaniment is The Meteors' drummer, Mike Sedgley. Steve named this in honor of Lightning Hopkins, who played blazing electric guitar (although most people think of him as an acoustic player). Lightning Bolt is a very downhome blues tune. This is an early version and is longer than the version on Steve's Weedkiller CD (available at CDBaby and Amazon). Steve is not the only fan of Lightning's electric sides; check out Rude Mood by Stevie Ray Vaughn! Steve covers a lot of stylistic ground during his shows. Check out some of his other videos!
The Meteors are: Steve Smith - Lead Guitar; Glen McCarthy - Bass (not featured in video); Mike Sedgley - Drums; and Pete DelVitto - Harmonica (you can see his back when he returns to the stage at the end!).

Here, The Meteors perform one of Steve's favorite originals - Stevie's Rock! This one is almost a tribute to Steve's influences: Elmore James, Hound Dog Taylor, JB Hutto, Johnny Shines and others. Possibly even Duane Allman, early Fleetwood Mac (Jeremy Spencer) and George Thorogood are in there as well! You Fat Possum fans should really enjoy the Mississippi juke sound here! Look for the Steve Smith & The Meteors CD - available through CDBaby and Amazon!
The Meteors are: Steve Smith - Lead Guitar; Glen McCarthy - Bass; Mike Sedgley - Drums; and Pete DelVitto - Harmonica (not playing during this video, but seen in the beginning walking off the stage!).
