Lumière et Compagnie

- 41 registi internazionali vengono coinvolti in una sfida molto particolare: realizzare un cortometraggio con le tecniche di lavoro che c'erano alla data dell'invenzione del cinematografo, nel 1895. Ecco cosa hanno realizzato potendo utilizzare solo tre sequenze, ciascuna al di sotto dei 52 secondi e girando il sonoro in presa diretta? -

- Lumière and Company (1995, original title "Lumière et Cie") was a collaboration between 41 international film directors in which each made a short film using the original Cinématographe camera invented by the Lumière brothers.
Shorts were edited in-camera and abided by three rules:
1. A short may be no longer than 52 seconds
2. No synchronized sound
3. No more than three takes -

- 41 réalisateurs ont tourné 52 secondes de leur choix sans son et en trois prises maximum avec la caméra originelle des frères Lumière. -

ENG- The middle Ages and Renaissance live on the shores of Lake Trasimeno:
In 1495 a small army of exiles from Siena and Perugia occupied the castle of Passignano, but Perugia's reaction was so violent that the invaders hoisted boats on their shoulders and tried to save themselves by sailing in the direction of the islands, but in vain. From that event of long ago comes the present-day Palio delle Barche. It is highly spectacular, and unique of its kind. The race is articulated in three stages: the first and the third in water, the second on the land, the contestants with the boats on their shoulders crossing the narrow streets of the historic centre. The race, which takes place on the last Sunday of July, involves no less than 250 contestants divided into four neighbourhoods: Historic Centre, Centre 2, Oliveto and S. Donato. They take as symbol four lake fishes: Queen Carp, Pike, Eel and Perch. During the Palio there is also the «Corsa delle Brocche» that is restricted to women.

ITA- Il Palio delle Barche: la commemorazione dell'ultimo atto di guerra civile perugina, quando un piccolo esercito della famiglia Oddi dovette fuggire, barche in spalla, dal castello di Passignano, inseguito dalle milizie dei Baglioni e dei Della Corgna.
Il Palio delle Barche impegna circa 250 contendenti (60 per rione) in una gara durissima che prevede tre fasi distinte:
la prima, a remi, dal lago alla riva;
la seconda a terra, barca in spalla, all'interno del centro storico fra viuzze ripide e scalinate e, infine,la terza con la barca in acqua per l'ultima violenta fatica dei rematori.
Il Palio, altamente spettacolare e unico al mondo nel suo genere, richiama ogni anno un pubblico enorme. Si svolge l'ultima domenica di Luglio.
