About Me:

The Foundation for Apologetic Information & Research (FAIR) was formed in late 1997 by a group of LDS defenders of the faith who frequented the America Online Mormonism message boards. In defending the Church against detractors there, this small group realized that they had no way of sharing their information with each other, much less the rest of the Church. As a result of this, FAIR was born. Incorporated as a non-profit organization in the state of New York on December 19, 1997, the fledgling organization put up its first Web site in March 1998.

FAIR is staffed completely by students of the scriptures, ancient languages, early Christian history, early LDS history, and LDS doctrine and apologetics. Most all of the staff here at FAIR have been involved in online services and Internet-based LDS apologetics for many years. Many of our members are authors of currently-available apologetic publications.

Thank you for all you do, and all the effort put into spreading the word about the restored gospel. You are passionate about what you do, and I am glad the technology is making it possible for you and all the others (Theldslife and ...) who are embarked in this great missionary work. What an example! Keep up the good work.

They have found a desert settlement confirmed to be named "Nahom" which is where Ishmael died in the Book of Mormon. East of this, along the coast, they found mountains covered with trees. They found wild fruit. They found honey bees. They found cave drawings depicting sail boats that the locals date back to 2500 years ago which is exactly the time the Book of Mormon says Nephi was there. The "coincidences" are adding up my friends.

And why do the dead Sea scrolls continue to show us that the concept of a suffering Messiah was not really new to Judaism?

Sorry, but the absence of God means moral relativity, which is in truth no morals at all, and the absence of truth. There is no such thing as "relative truth", and the very world on which we live in speaks to the evidence of a Grand Designer. As for the theory of evolution, it can not explain quite a few things about human nature and even that has been noted as having evidence of some Designer. Evolution is not a random thing, as far as I can tell. Even some noted atheists have alluded to the fact that there is a set structure about these things, a given design.

What of Josephus? There continues to be debate over the Testimonium Flavium, but no one could say they have a definite answer.

Joe, could you please give us some citations of this "evidence"?

Robin Lane Fox wrote an amazing book, The Unauthorized Version: Truth and Fiction in the Bible. Mr Lane-Fox is a well known, well respected historian. I found it fascinating. Here is a sampling:

1. The Old Testament wasn't written until around 500 bce.
2. The prophesies were written after the events they predicted.
3. At Soloman's time, the Hebrews were polytheistic.
2. The entire nativity story was invented.
3. There is not one, not one, eyewitness account of this alleged Jesus.

The bible cannot be used as a history book. It is inaccurate and many of the stories were invented. Most significant is that the prophesies weren't prophecies at all. They were written after the fact by men who wanted them to appear as prophesies.
